Abstract
Description
The invention relates to hydrometallurgical processing of ore concentrates, and more particularly to the processing of loparite concentrate and can be used in the complex extraction of titanium, niobium and tantalum compounds from it.
A method for processing loparite concentrate is known from Russian patent 2147621 dated 09/07/99, including opening it with concentrated nitric acid to obtain a solution of rare earth nitrates and hydrated cake pulp containing oxides of titanium, niobium and tantalum. Then, the nitric acid pulp of the hydrated cake is diluted with 1.5-2 times water, cooled, filtered to obtain a hydrated cake, which is washed from nitric acid solutions of rare earth nitrates and impurities and dissolved in 40% hydrofluoric acid HF to obtain fluoride solutions of titanium, niobium and tantalum, followed by extraction of niobium and tantalum with 100% tributyl phosphate from fluoride solutions and crystallization of titanyl sulfate monohydrate from the bottom residue.
The disadvantages of this method include the need for additional dissolution of the hydrated cake to obtain fluoride solutions of titanium, niobium and tantalum and the related need for additional operations: diluting the pulp with water, filtering, washing the hydrated cake from nitrates of rare earth elements and impurities. Moreover, the filtration rate of the pulp is low due to the presence in it of a gel formed from silicon compounds contained in the impurity minerals of quartz and aegirine and released during their decomposition.
A more advanced and close to the claimed method is a method of processing loparite concentrate with its opening with hydrochloric acid (journal "Non-ferrous metals", 10, 2000, p.52-53). The method includes opening the loparite concentrate with 28-30% hydrochloric acid at atmospheric pressure for 8-10 hours at a temperature of 100-105 o C. The precipitate containing unopened loparite and aegirine is separated. From the separated liquid phase of the pulp by hydrolysis, under certain conditions, hydroxides of titanium, niobium and tantalum are precipitated. The precipitate of titanium, niobium and tantalum hydroxides is separated by filtration from the chlorides of rare-earth elements and other impurity metals and elements, washed thoroughly. The purified precipitate of titanium, niobium and tantalum hydroxides (hydrated cake) is fed for dissolution in hydrofluoric acid. The resulting solution contains a mixture of fluorometallic acids of titanium, niobium and tantalum. It is sent to the extraction separation of titanium, niobium and tantalum using octanols. The result is individual fluoride solutions of titanium, niobium and tantalum. Subsequently, these solutions are sent to individual pyrolysis plants for the production of titanium, niobium and tantalum oxides.
This method is the most advanced and therefore selected as the closest analogue. However, in terms of obtaining fluoride solutions of titanium, niobium and tantalum, it does not differ from the analogue considered above. Therefore, the disadvantages of this method include the need for additional dissolution of hydrated cake to obtain fluoride solutions of titanium, niobium and tantalum and the associated need for additional operations.
The present invention was based on the task to develop a method for processing loparite concentrate, in which the extraction of valuable components would be carried out using such reagents and under such conditions that the valuable components are removed from the solutions formed when the loparite concentrate is opened, which eliminates the need to dissolve hydrated cake and related operations, which is the technical result of the claimed invention.
The technical result is achieved by the fact that in the claimed method of processing loparite concentrate, including its opening with hydrochloric acid to obtain chloride solutions, the separation of titanium, niobium and tantalum compounds from rare earth compounds and the subsequent preparation of a solution of titanium, niobium and tantalum fluorides, is new, that the separation of titanium, niobium and tantalum is carried out by their extraction from chloride solutions using an organic mixture containing alkylphosphoric acid, and fluoride solutions of these rare m The metals are obtained by reextracting them from the extract with concentrated hydrofluoric acid.
The implementation of the method under such conditions allows the separation of titanium, niobium and tantalum chlorides from rare earth chlorides directly in solutions, as well as the subsequent production of fluoride solutions of titanium, niobium and tantalum, suitable for subsequent efficient processing. Due to this, in contrast to the prototype, there is no need to dissolve the hydrated cake and related operations, and, accordingly, the simplification of the method by reducing the number of operations is provided.
It is also new that before the extraction separation of titanium (Ti), niobium (Nb) and tantalum (Ta) compounds from rare-earth elements, chloride solutions are purified from iron impurities by extraction or sorption.
Carrying out the purification of the solutions ensures the subsequent production of fluoride solutions of Ti, Nb, and Ta, which are practically free of iron impurities, which interfere with the preparation of pure titanium compounds.
Also new is that the extraction of titanium, niobium and tantalum is carried out from solutions of 5-8 molar (M) hydrochloric acid (HCl).
The process from solutions of 5-8 M Hcl facilitates the selective extraction of Ti, Nb and Ta from chloride solutions and simultaneously reduces the consumption of hydrochloric acid for opening the loparite concentrate.
In addition, it is new that the extraction of titanium, niobium and tantalum from chloride solutions is carried out with an organic mixture containing 0.6-1.2 M di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid (D2EHPA) and 0.18-0.37 M tributyl phosphate ( TBP) in an inert diluent.
The use of such an organic mixture for the extraction of Ti, Nb, and Ta provides a high degree of extraction of titanium, niobium, and tantalum from the solution and, at the same time, good hydrodynamics of the process.
It is also new that the extraction of titanium, niobium and tantalum from chloride solutions is carried out with an organic mixture containing 0.6-1.2 moles of di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid in octanol.
The use of an organic mixture of this composition for extraction of Ti, Nb, and Ta also provides a high degree of extraction of titanium, niobium, and tantalum from the solution and, at the same time, good hydrodynamics of the process and, in addition, helps to reduce pollution of reextracts with phosphorus impurities.
In addition, it is new that 40-71% hydrofluoric acid is re-extracted with titanium, niobium and tantalum to produce their fluoride solutions with a content of at least 200 g / l in terms of the sum of their oxides.
Obtaining fluoride solutions of Ti, Nb, and Ta with a concentration of not less than 200 g / l, calculated on the sum of their oxides, provides for the subsequent separation of these elements in fluoride media without preliminary prepackaging of solutions.
The inventive method is as follows.
The loparite concentrate is mixed with the original hydrochloric acid and then the concentrate is opened under continuous stirring at a temperature below 100 o C until it is completely decomposed to obtain a combined solution of rare metal chlorides of titanium, niobium and tantalum, rare earth chlorides, as well as unavoidable impurities, for example, impurities gland. The specific parameters of the process of opening the loparite concentrate with hydrochloric acid, developed by the applicant, are the subject of a separate application for the invention, therefore, they are not considered in this application.
After opening the loparite concentrate, the chloride solution is cleaned of iron by extraction or sorption of iron using reagents from among neutral oxygen-containing extractants, for example, aliphatic alcohols, tributyl phosphate; or anion exchange extractants — secondary or tertiary amines in diluents; or sorption of iron on anion exchange resin, for example, AMP grade. Carrying out the purification of the solutions ensures the subsequent production of fluoride solutions of Ti, Nb, and Ta, which are practically free of iron impurities, which interfere with the preparation of pure titanium compounds.
An organic reagent containing 0.6-1.2 M di-2 ethylhexylphosphoric acid (D2EHPA) in a diluent is introduced into a chloride-free solution of iron containing 5-8 M Hcl, and titanium, niobium, and tantalum are extracted from REE chlorides. Reextraction of rare rare metals is carried out using concentrated 40-71% hydrofluoric acid HF. In this case, fluoride solutions are obtained containing at least 200 g / l by the sum of the oxides Ti, Nb and Ta, suitable for subsequent selective extraction of niobium and tantalum fluorides without pre-evaporation.
The use of di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid with a concentration above 1.2 M in a diluent as an extractant leads to an increase in the viscosity of the organic solution and, accordingly, to a decrease in the hydrodynamic characteristics of the process (decrease in the rate of delamination).
When using an organic mixture with a concentration of D2EHPA <0.6 M, the extraction of titanium, niobium and tantalum to the organic phase is reduced due to a decrease in the capacity of the extractant used, which requires a significant increase in the ratio of flows of organic and aqueous phases (O: B) at the extraction stage.
The introduction of TBP tributyl phosphate in an organic solution in an amount of 0.18-0.37 M allows you to remove the film at the phase boundary formed in the extraction systems based on alkylphosphoric acids and increase the rate of phase separation. An increase in the content of TBP in the mixture> 0.37 M does not significantly affect the phase separation process, and a decrease in the content of TBP <0.18 M increases the time of separation. The introduction into the organic solution of aliphatic alcohol - octanol as a diluent is determined by the possibility of its use simultaneously as a modifier, allowing to remove the film at the phase boundary and to achieve almost instant phase separation.
A decrease in the concentration of HC1 <5 M in the initial solution is undesirable due to the instability of such solutions caused by the hydrolysis of titanium, niobium, and tantalum. In addition, at a concentration of Hcl <5 M, coextraction of REE into the organic phase is observed.
An increase in the content of HCl> 8 M does not reduce the extraction characteristics of the process, but it is undesirable due to a decrease in the environmental parameters of the process, since concentrated HCl smokes in air due to the emission of gaseous hydrogen chloride vapors.
The use of 40-71% concentrated HF at the re-extraction stage is determined by the concentrations of HF conc. various brands. A decrease in HF concentration leads to the incomplete extraction of titanium, niobium, and tantalum into the fluoride solution due to the deficiency of the F - ion necessary for the binding of titanium, niobium, and tantalum to strong fluoride complexes.
Further processing of metal-concentrated fluoride reextracts is carried out by known methods, for example, by selective extraction with aliphatic alcohols, in particular with octanol.
The essence and advantages of the proposed method can be illustrated by the following examples.
