PURPOSE:To make a cam shaft driving device compact by connecting a balancer shaft to a cam shaft through a cam chain moving obliquely in the axial direction of a cylinder, and arranging a chain tension adjusting device in a space for the cam chain on a side near the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A balancer shaft 8 is provided above a middle area between a speed change gear 6 and a crankshaft 4. The balancer shaft 8 is connected to a cam shaft 18 through a cam chain 16 moving obliquely in the axial direction of a cylinder 1. ており、そのカム軸はクランク軸からカムチェンを介し
て動力を入力するようになっている。このカム軸駆動機
構では、カムチェンがエンジンの回転変動により撓んだ
り、伸びて弛んだりすると吸排気弁の作動や点火時期に
狂いを生じ、エンジンの出力低下などの不調をきたすよ
うになる。このようなカムチェンの撓みや伸びはチェノ
。張力調整装置によって調整することができるが、これ
を一層確実なものにするにはカムチェンの長さを短くす
るようにした方が望ましい。

方向に斜行するカムチェンで連結し、このカムチェンの
シリンダ寄り側の空間にチェノ張力調整装置を配置した
ことを特徴とするものである。
