Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a skin external preparation having excellent moisture retention and improving effects on chapped skin free from greasiness, coloring, change in smell etc., an extract of Cordyceps sinensis. CONSTITUTION:A skin external preparation obtained by blending a skin external preparation with preferably 0.0001-10wt.% especially 0.001-5wt.% calculated as dried solid substance based on sum of skin external preparation of Cordyceps sinensis, improving chapped skin, having excellent providing effects on skin with wetness and gloss free from defects such as greasiness, coloring, change in smell, like conventional skin external preparations mixed with various kinds of humectants. The extract is obtained by heating Cordyceps sinensis with one or more solvents, e.g. hydrocarbon such as hexane, etc., ester such as ethyl acetate, ketone such as acetone, ether such as diethyl ether, halogenated hydrocarbon such as chloroform, alcohol such as ethanol, and water under reflux or immersing Cordyceps sinensis in the solvent and filtering.
