Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically obtain almost the same image as an original business form without a person's help, by measuring the inclination quantity of the upper side or four sides of an inputted image, and bringing the inputted image to a rotational correction by said inclination quantity. CONSTITUTION:A business form 2 is illuminated by a lighting lamp 3, and its reflected light forms an image on a photoelectric converting part 5 through a lens 4. The output of the photoelectric converting part 5 is stored in an image memory 6. The inclination of image and inclination direction of an image which is stored in the image memory 6 are derived by an inclination measuring circuit 7, an image area is extracted, and it is brought to a rotational correction by an image rotating circuit 8. The image which has been brought to a rotational correction is outputted to an output part 9.

A device for inputting character information has been commercialized as an OCR. OCR uses format information as an auxiliary means for inputting character information. The format information includes the length of the form, the width of the form, the character input position on the form, and the like. The above format information can also be used for OCR devices that manually input image information, so it is possible to measure the amount of inclination of the top side or four sides of the form, and perform rotation correction/correction for the image area. Image information on a form that has been imported by skiing can also be restored and output almost identical to the original image.

Hereinafter, one embodiment of the invention will be explained using the first whistle. Here, 1 is the direction in which the width sheet 2 runs, 5 is an illumination lamp, 4 is a lens, 5 is a photoelectric converter, 6 is an image memory that stores the image output of the photoelectric converter 5, and 7 is the inclination of the sheet. 8 is an image rotation circuit, and 9 is a corrected image output unit. FIG. 2 shows the inclination and inclination direction determined by the inclination measurement circuit 7 from the image memory 6. The image area 2 is extracted, rotated and corrected by the image rotation circuit 8, and outputted to the corrected image output section 9. It shows a series of actions. The back of the form is set to black or gray for the time being, and when the form is not within the field of view of the photoelectric conversion unit 5, its output is set to a black or gray level. To simplify the explanation, assume that the form is tilted to the left as shown in Figure 2. First, a control section (not shown) transports one form into the field of view of the photoelectric conversion section 5, and at the same time initializes all circuits. Immediately before the transported form enters the field of view of the photoelectric conversion unit 5, it is illuminated by the illumination lamp 3, and the reflected light is imaged by the imaging lens 4 on the CCD sensor, which is a component of the photoelectric conversion unit 5, and the A/ D-convert, binarize, and store in image memory B. Immediately after the trailing edge of the form leaves the field of view of the photoelectric conversion unit 5, the storage process is stopped. Therefore, the contents of the image memory 6 are as shown in FIG. 2A. Next, find the tilt of the image. As mentioned above, since the image is stored immediately before the photoelectric conversion unit 5, the range from the start address of the image memory 2 to where the leading edge of the form exists is also the start address (2) at a constant address. It is fixed. Scanning from the start address tile to the right, the number of black bits, the number of white bits,
Counts the number of left and right addresses and the number of top and bottom addresses, and holds the left and right addresses and top and bottom addresses that decrease from the maximum number of black bits.

Also, what are the left and right addresses and top and bottom addresses where the maximum number of white bits starts? Hold. The maximum black bit address is given as address 11.12 in FIG. 2, and the maximum white bit address is given as 10.13. The amount of inclination θ on the top side of the form is given as a difference between addresses, and is expressed by the following equation.

10,000, the image area is given in format information (not shown) by position 14 from the leading edge of the form, position 15 from the left edge of the form, and image area tx77L, and the leading edge position,
The left end position is the address 10. where the slope was calculated, as explained earlier.

First, the extracted image (state B) is moved by 2-abxθ (state C). Next, the image is rotated 90 degrees to the left (state D). Next, move the image by x jitrbθ two lines (state E), and finally rotate the image 90 degrees to the right.
An image F rotated by the inclination θ is obtained.

Of course, an error report is made for a form that deviates from the absolute field of view, and the above-described tilt measurement and image rotation operations are not performed.

According to the present invention, the amount of inclination (skiing) that occurs during document transportation, etc. is measured on the top side of the document, and the image area is rotated and corrected by the amount of inclination. An image almost identical to the original document can be automatically obtained without any intervention.
