Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable switching of mirror with simple and small device by forming the unit for switching the reflection face of prism mirror having different reflection factor on the front face and the rear face with shape-memory alloy then controlling power supply in accordance to the output from a lighting member detector. CONSTITUTION:When the head light of following vehicle is not lighting the prism mirror 1 in the night, one (5A) of the switching members 5A, 5B made of shape-memory alloy spring is expanding while the other (5B) is contracting. Consequently, the slider 4 will contact against the rear face of mirror 1 to reflect the light from the rear face of high reflection face. While when the head light of following vehicle will light the mirror 1 and detected through a detector (not shown), power is fed to the switching member 5B to extend thus to move the slider 4 in the direction (a). Consequently, the mirror 1 will incline upward around the pin 11 through co-operation with the fixed member 3 thus to reflect the light from the low reflection front face of mirror 1.
