The pockets of these garments have the form shown in Figures 1 and 2, and are made by folding the upper edge of the pocket material cloth 2 into the body cloth 1 in advance, with the vertical edges and bottom edges facing toward the body cloth. After folding, the vertical edge and bottom edge are sewn to the pocket outline line 3 with an appropriate seam allowance. In the figures, the dashed-dotted line 4 indicates a raphe line; FIG. 1 shows one row of sewing, and FIG. 2 shows two rows of sewing. Figure 3 shows a sectional view taken along line A-A in Figure 2, and Figure 4 shows a cross-sectional view taken along line B-A in Figure 2.
FIG. 2 is a sectional view taken along line B and showing how the edge of the pocket material cloth 2 is folded. If the angle “θ 1 ” formed between the vertical edge 5 and the upper edge 6 of the pocket is smaller than 90° as shown by “D” in FIGS. 1 and 2, the folding margin of the vertical edge 5 is If the top of the sewing machine protrudes beyond the upper edge 6, the commercial value of the final sewn product will be reduced. On the other hand, in actual sewn products, from a design or functional point of view, the angle θ 1 is often smaller than 90° as described above, and in such cases, the top of the folding margin of the vertical edge 5 is at the top. It is desired that the folded portion does not protrude from the edge 6, and as a countermeasure for this, additional measures are required regarding the folded portion.

5 and 6 show a part of the E-E cross section in FIG. 4, and the pocket material cloth 2 seen from the side of the body cloth 1.
It is a figure which shows the folding aspect of the folding line I-ha of a different aspect in the edge of the upper left end part. If the edge of the vertical edge 5 is simply folded back, the shape of the folding margin will be as shown by I-H-TO-HO in the figure, and as a result, the portion shown by I-H-N will protrude from the upper edge 6. become. On the other hand, if this folding allowance is further folded back to the body fabric side or the opposite body fabric side along the I-H line, and then the pocket material fabric 2 and the body fabric 1 are sewn along the sewing line 4, the phenomenon of the folding allowance protruding occurs. There is no folded back part, and the folded parts are also sewn and fixed so that they do not stick out after sewing.

In FIGS. 9a to 9e, the cloth folding operation by the above-mentioned components of the automatic folding device will be described. This application shows the FF cross section in Figure 7.
In the figure, a body cloth 1 is placed on a work base surface 11, a pocket folding template 8 is placed directly above it, and a pocket material cloth 2 on the upper surface thereof is held by a clamp 14. In order to supply these cloth groups to this automatic folding device, it may be carried out in the position shown in this figure, or the body cloth 1 may be placed at a different position on the work base surface 11, and the pocket folding template 8 may be placed directly above it. After placing the pocket material cloth 2 thereon and gripping it with the clamp 4, the body cloth 1, the pocket folding template 8 and the pocket material cloth 2 are transferred by a conveying device (not shown).
and may be moved together to the main position by sliding them on the work base surface 11. The cloth pressing plate 7, the vertical edge folding blade 9, and the bottom edge folding blade 10 (not shown) are stopped at positions spaced apart from the work base surface 11. At this stage, in order to facilitate the pattern matching work of matching the patterns of the pocket material cloth 2 and body cloth 1, these cloth groups are kept as close as possible to each other.

Next, as shown in Figure b, the cloth pressing plate 7, the vertical edge folding blade 9 and the bottom edge folding blade 10 (not shown) descend and approach the work base surface 11, and the pocket material cloth 2
At the same time as pushing down the vertical edge and the bottom edge, the pocket folding template 8 rises slightly and the pocket material cloth 2
is sandwiched between the pocket folding template 8 and the fabric pressing plate 7. In this case, the reason why the pocket folding template 8 is slightly raised is that firstly, when the target fabric is thick and has high bending rigidity, such as jeans fabric, the vertical edge folding blade 9 is lowered from the bottom surface of the pocket folding template 8. And, unless the distance to the top surface of the bottom edge folding blade 10 (not shown) is greater than the thickness of the folded part of the fabric that enters between the two, it is practically difficult to fold the edge of the fabric.Secondly, as shown in FIG. As shown in the figure, the upper edge opening of the pocket is pre-folded into two or three folds, and when the upper edge of the above-mentioned thick fabric is further folded, the number of folded fabric layers increases. The pocket folding template 8 and the vertical edge folding blade 9 increase in number and therefore become thicker, and the folding margin overlaps at the intersection of the vertical edge and the bottom edge of the pocket, increasing the number of layers and increasing the thickness. This is because it is necessary to widen the gap with the bottom edge folding blade 10 (not shown). Next, the vertical edge folding blades 9 and the bottom edge folding blades 10 (not shown) begin to rotate and move forward as shown in Fig. c and begin folding the vertical and bottom edges, respectively, and end the folding as shown in Fig. d. Then, as shown in Fig. e, the vertical edge folding blade 9 and the like retreat, and the cloth pressing plate 7 and pocket folding template 8 descend. Thereafter, the pocket folding template 8 is pulled out in the direction of the pocket opening, and the fabrics are transferred to a sewing section where the folded edges are sewn.

As shown in part G in FIG. 7, one thin metal plate or plastic auxiliary tool 15 is disposed on the extension of the vertical edge folding blade 9, respectively. It has a thin plate structure that is tightened together, and the vertical edge folding blade 9 approaches the pocket and 2
When the auxiliary tool 15 is pivoted forward to the position indicated by the dotted chain line, the auxiliary tool 15 is also pivoted forward to the position indicated by the two-dot chain line, and its tip is positioned directly below the back surface of the pocket folding template 8. The details of how to fold the edge of the upper pocket using this auxiliary tool 15 are shown in FIGS. 10a to 10e at the right end when viewed from the body cloth 1 side. This figure shows how the vertical edge of the pocket is folded step by step as the vertical edge folding blade 9 and the auxiliary tool 15 rotate forward. The left end of the upper edge of the pocket is symmetrical with respect to the right end, and the effect is the same.

In FIG. 10a, the pocket material cloth 2 is fixed and placed on the upper surface of the pocket folding template 8 with a clip 14 (not shown), and the vertical edge folding blade 9
and the auxiliary tool 15 are in the retracted position prior to edge folding, below these and on the work base surface 11.
A body cloth 1 (not shown) is placed on top. FIG. 10b shows a state in which the vertical edge folding blade 9 has started rotating forward and has begun folding the vertical edge of the pocket material cloth 2. The upper end 6 of the pocket material cloth 2 and the upper end of the vertical edge folding blade 9 are arranged so that the upper end of the vertical edge folding blade 9 is located downward by a dimension of "T" as shown in FIG. 10a. ing. Vertical edge folding blade 9
Even if the machine begins to rotate forward, there is no vertical edge folding blade 9 in the "T" section, so the folding is carried out by the folding operation below "T", and the folding progresses slowly, causing the upper end of the vertical edge to be folded. The folds are formed towards the body side.

FIG. 10c shows a state where the vertical edge folding blade 9 has further advanced its rotation and has finished folding the vertical edge and folding the upper end toward the body side. The upper end of the vertical edge is folded in the shape shown by the null, but due to the change in the thickness of the pocket material cloth 2, the
The triangle indicated by the worker is the upper end 6 of the pocket material cloth 2.
Sometimes it sticks out. The size of the protruding amount worker varies depending on various conditions such as the thickness and rigidity of the target cloth, the amount of gap between the pocket folding template 8 and the body cloth 2, or the dimension "T". Therefore, depending on the conditions, the protruding amount of the overworker may protrude beyond the upper edge 6 of the pocket. Figure 10d
The figure shows how to push this protruding worker inward from the upper end 6 of the pocket. As the vertical edge folding blade 9 rotates forward, the auxiliary tool 15 also rotates forward. At the final stage of the vertical edge folding blade 9 and the auxiliary tool 15 rotating forward, the tip lip yotter of the auxiliary tool 15 presses the folding margin of the upper edge of the pocket directly below the back surface of the pocket folding template 8, causing the pocket to protrude from the upper edge of the pocket. The overworker part that had been kept is pushed into the inside, but this pushing is done forcibly, and as a result of the pushing, the slack in the vertical edge folding allowance is folded into the "J" section. FIG. 10e shows a state where the vertical edge folding blade 9 and the auxiliary tool 15 have retreated after the folding is completed. The protruding overworker pushed in by the lip yawter at the tip of the auxiliary tool 15 does not protrude beyond the upper edge 6 of the pocket due to the folding of the "J" portion.

Concerning the form and installation of the auxiliary tool 15, it is necessary that the tip lip york of the auxiliary tool 15 not interfere with the pocket folding template 8 and press the triangular overhanging worker part when it pivots forward. In the case of jeans fabric, if the dimension "T" is 5 to 10 mm, the thickness of the lip part of the auxiliary tool 15 is
0.5 to 2 mm, and the lip portion must be inside the outer edge of the pocket after the edge is folded in when the upper edge is pressed, that is, the "H" dimension in Figure 6 d must be greater than 0, and the tip of the lip yotter must be on the upper edge of the pocket. 6, that is, the "K" dimension is greater than 0, and the tip line of the lip from point YO to point TA is at least parallel to the pocket upper edge line 6, or is closer to point ``compared to point ``ta''. It needs to be slightly slanted so that the yaw fits inside the pocket.

On the other hand, as mentioned above, especially when processing thick material cloth with high bending rigidity, such as jeans cloth, etc., using the main edge folding device, the folding pattern 8 is folded from the lower surface of the pocket folding template 8 to the upper surface of the body fabric immediately below it. Since it is necessary to increase the distance between the two, the related dimensions of each part shown in FIG.
When using jeans fabric with a thickness of 0.8 mm to 0.8 mm, the distance from the bottom surface of the pocket folding template 8 to the top surface of the edge folding blade 9 in the trowel direction is 3 to 4.5 mm, and the distance from the bottom surface of the vertical edge folding blade 9 to the top surface of the body fabric 1 is 3 to 4.5 mm. The distance is 0.5 to 3 mm from the bottom of the pocket folding template 8 to the body cloth 1.
As a result of tests, it was found that by setting the distance to the top surface to 4 to 8.5 mm, smooth folding operation was possible. Since the upper edge corresponding to the pocket opening is pre-folded as shown in Fig. 4, the thickness of the folded part of the E-LO-HA in Fig. 5, which is an extension of the fabric, is also thick, at a maximum of 4.5 to 7.2 mm. It is. Furthermore, although we have shown examples using thick cloth, even when sewing pockets with thin cloth such as for shirts, the dimensions and attachment method of the auxiliary tool 15 can be changed according to changes in the thickness of the cloth, folding allowance, etc. It is fully applicable.
