Therefore, when attempting to process information using a certain device, it is difficult to predict whether the processing will succeed or fail, and in a multitasking environment, multiple devices are required to display the processing process. There was a problem that an indicator had to be prepared.

The display control program 7 draws icons on the display screen, and the zip control program 8 interprets input data from the operator, starts the corresponding processing program, and instructs the display control program 7 to draw icons. . The additional information management program 9 manages additional information 10 such as the name of the icon pattern data 11 and the icon display position, which is necessary when the zip control program draws processing target data and equipment as icons. This is a mechanism for Processing program 1 started by zip control program 8
In step 2, information regarding the progress of the process and the external storage medium 13 that is the target of the process is reported to the jump control program.

In this embodiment, as shown in Fig. 5, five types of symbols are prepared, and when a 2-sized floppy disk is set, the remaining capacity of the floppy disk is checked, and the already stored capacity is displayed in a tint pattern in the icon pattern. The design of the icon is selected and displayed as expressed in . This allows the operator to visualize the remaining capacity of the set floppy disk.

5 floppy disk icons 16 on i/ (This is realized by the operation of overlapping. When overlapping occurs, the respective icon patterns are as shown in FIG. 4, 1-). The document file Eyecore 17 has a chiseled pattern throughout, and it takes 10 minutes to store it on a floppy disk.
The operator is visually informed that 0% remains. In FIG. 4(A), the icon 17 of the document file has a half-reflected design, which informs the operator that half of the work to store the document file on the floppy disk remains. Document file icon 17
Corresponding to the change in the symbol, the symbol of the floppy disk icon 18 also changes moment by moment according to the residual answer t which changes over time. In the example, as shown in FIG.
Five types of icon designs for the F file are also prepared, and the corresponding designs are displayed as icons on the screen according to the progress of the process. This allows the operator to visualize the progress of the process of storing the document file on the floppy disk.

When it is fully detected in step 19 that the floppy disk has been set, the side leg moves to step 20. Here, the management information of the floppy disk is read. This embodiment is configured as a floppy disk dUNX file system, and the above-mentioned management information is stored in a super block of a 5-file system. Next, in step 21, the ratio between the total capacity of the 70 nobby disk and the remaining capacity is calculated based on the result obtained in step 2o. In step 22, an icon pattern file corresponding to the remaining capacity of 70 pies is selected, and the name of the pattern file is set in the additional information corresponding to the icon.

In step 24, the additional information corresponding to the floppy icon is read out using the functions of the additional information management program 9. In step 25, icon pattern data is generated one after another based on the additional information and is registered in the display control program 7 as new icon pattern data. Finally, in step 26, the icon pattern is drawn using the functions of the display control program 7.

In step 27, the capacity of the document file to be stored is determined. Thereafter, in step 28, the overall pattern is displayed as an icon. In step 29, 1 byte of data is stored on the floppy disk, and control is passed to step 3. If it is determined in step 30 that there is no data remaining to be stored, the process is terminated, and if data remains, control is transferred to step 31.
Move to. At step 31, the current remaining capacity of the floppy disk and the remaining capacity of the document file data to be stored are calculated, and after setting the corresponding symbol data at step 52, the process of redisplaying the icon is performed.

Further, there is no need to prepare a special indicator for displaying the progress status, and even if multiple processes are executed as a multitask, the progress of each process can be expressed on the corresponding icon pattern. Furthermore, since information about the device to be processed, such as the remaining capacity of the floppy disk, can be expressed visually, it is possible to prevent the erroneous operation of storing data files on a floppy disk that has no remaining capacity, making it possible to avoid conventional operations. Compared to conventional methods, this method has the effect of improving operability in that it reduces the number of erroneous operations and eliminates psychological anxiety during operation.
