It is attached to the vehicle body. A steering support structure for attaching a portion including a steering shaft and a steering wheel to a vehicle body in such a steering device is usually such that the steering column is The middle part and the lower end are attached to two brackets provided on the upper dash panel forming the cowl box located at the front of the vehicle interior, and are fixed to the vehicle body, or the steering wheel. The column is fixed to the vehicle body by being attached to a bracket extending from an upper dash panel that forms a cowl box located at the front of the vehicle interior and a bracket extending from a lower dash panel that partitions the vehicle interior and the engine room. be taken as a thing. In the latter case, for example, a configuration as shown by a solid line in FIG. 4 is adopted, and in such a configuration, a steering column into which a steering shaft 74 to which a steering wheel 72 is attached is rotatably inserted is used. 70, whose middle portion is attached to the upper bracket 60 extending from the upper dash panel 62 toward the rear of the vehicle interior, and whose lower end portion is attached to the bracket 64 extending from the lower dash panel 68 toward the vehicle interior. The steering column 7 is attached via a lower bracket 66 provided.
0 is fixed to the vehicle body.

There is a regulation that specifies the amount of movement. The amount of rearward movement of the steering wheel is the amount of movement of the steering wheel toward the rear of the passenger compartment, which occurs when the engine, etc. located at the front of the vehicle moves backward toward the passenger compartment in the event of a collision from the front of the vehicle. It corresponds to the horizontal movement distance, and different allowable values are set depending on the country, for example. Each vehicle is required to comply with the standard regarding the amount of rearward movement of the steering wheel, as well as other standards required for each vehicle.

Therefore, in the event of a head-on collision, etc., the entire steering column will move parallel to the rear of the passenger compartment as the engine, etc. located at the front of the vehicle retreats toward the passenger compartment. , there is a risk that the amount of backward movement of the steering wheel will be relatively large. For example, when the configuration shown in FIG. 4 is adopted, in the event of a head-on collision of the vehicle, the lower dash panel 68 is

The entire steering wheel 720 moves in parallel toward the rear of the vehicle compartment together with the steering wheel 72.
There is a risk that the horizontal movement distance toward the rear of the vehicle compartment will be relatively large.

The other end is supported by a steering column support member fixed to the vehicle body, the lower part of the steering column is supported by one end of the link member, and the other end of the link member is connected to the steering bracket, The steering column is fixed to the vehicle body. The connection of the other end of the link member to the steering bracket is such that when the vehicle body receives an impact load exceeding a predetermined value, the other end of the link member separates from the steering bracket, and the steering column is connected to the steering column. Using the support part of the support member as a fulcrum,
The steering wheel is allowed to rotate in a direction that moves the steering wheel upward.

For example, the connecting portion 42c, which is one end of the link member 42, is selected to separate from the upper steering bracket 26 when an impact load of a predetermined value or more is applied, such as during a collision. Therefore, when an impact load of more than a predetermined value acts on the vehicle body, such as during a collision, the steering column 30 pivots on the steering column support bar 14, which supports the other end of the upper steering bracket 26 to which the middle portion of the steering column 30 is attached. It is said that it can be rotated as follows.

移動量が効果的に低減されることになる。Therefore, at this time, the lower end of the steering column 30 is connected to the link member 42 and the upper steering bracket 2.
Lower dash panel 1 is disconnected from 6.
6, the steering column 30 is moved to the rear side of the vehicle interior 9 by the steering column 30, so that the steering column 30 is moved toward the rear side of the vehicle interior 9 by using the steering column support bar 14, which supports the middle portion of the steering column 30 via the other end of the upper steering bracket 26, as a spindle. 3
It will be rotated in the direction shown by arrow S in the figure. Therefore, as the steering column 30 rotates, the steering wheel 32 is rotated upward from the position shown by the solid line in FIG. 3 to the position shown by the two-dot chain line. 32 to the rear side of the vehicle compartment 9 is significantly shortened. In this way, for example, even if a collision occurs from the front side of the vehicle and the impact load received by the vehicle exceeds a predetermined value, the horizontal movement distance of the steering wheel 32 toward the rear side of the passenger compartment 9 can be changed. In other words, the amount of backward movement is effectively reduced.

By being fixed to the vehicle body under the support of a fixed steering column support member, parts including the steering shaft and the steering wheel attached thereto can be securely attached to the vehicle body, and moreover, in the event of a vehicle collision, etc. The amount of backward movement of the steering wheel can be effectively reduced. Therefore, a vehicle to which the vehicle steering support structure according to the present invention is applied can satisfactorily comply with standards regarding the amount of rearward movement of the steering wheel, in which the permissible amount of rearward movement of the steering wheel is set to be relatively small. Become something.
