Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the safety in the work for a printer by installing a detection part consisting of an optical sensor and a reflecting mirror and certainly detecting operator's hands inserted between a paper sending-out part and a stacker table in noncontact. CONSTITUTION:When operator's hands are inserted between a paper sending-out part 1 and a stacker table 6 from a certain reason, the light beam 15 transmitted into a light receiving element 12 by a reflecting mirror 13 from the luminous element 11 of an optical sensor 20 arranged at the lower edge part of the paper sending-out part 1 is cut off by the operator's hands. By the cut-off of the light beam 15, the optical sensor 20 operates to stop the rise of the stacker table 6, which is speedily shifted downward, and the trouble that the operator's hands are pinched by the stacker table 6 is certainly avoided.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Summary] The safety mechanism for a stacker according to the present invention includes an intruding object detection section including an optical sensor and a reflecting mirror on the lower end side of a paper feeding section. Therefore, if, for example, an operator's "hand" is inserted between the paper delivery section and the stacker table, this can be accurately detected and safety measures can be taken.

However, the conventional stacker safety mechanism described above has a complicated structure and a high risk of malfunction. In particular, since the safety bar is activated by contact with the operator, careful consideration must be given to its shape etc. for safety measures. Furthermore, it is necessary to provide the safety bar in the entire area within reach of the operator, that is, in front of the paper delivery section, as well as on both sides, resulting in an increase in equipment costs.

As shown in FIGS. 1(a) and 1(bl), the stacker safety mechanism of the present invention includes an optical sensor 20 disposed at the lower end of the paper feeding section 1, and a light emitting element 11 of the optical sensor. It is equipped with a plurality of (three in this embodiment) reflecting mirrors 13 that sequentially reflect the reflected light rays 15 and make them incident on the light receiving element 12. When the light #lA15 is blocked by the stacker table 6, the optical sensor 20 is activated to stop the stacker table 6 on the spot and quickly move it downward.
