Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an easily manufacturable and efficient bulb type fluorescent lamp by employing milky glass at the bottom of outer tube. CONSTITUTION:Milky glass is employed as the material for the bottom of outer tube 2 and it may contain many small bubbles. Since the light is reflected at random from the bubbles and almost returned into the lamp, the efficiency is improved by 3% when compared with a lamp of same structure employing metal plate at the bottom of outer tube. When employing glass at the bottom of outer tube, connection with the outer tube can be performed through welding thus to shorten the work time. Furthermore, the inner tube 3 and the bottom of outer tube 2 are bonded through inorganic adhesive 6 thus to simplify manufacture of lamp.

FIG. 2 shows an example of a conventional low-pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp. This structure is known from Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 54-44370. This lamp consists of an outer tube 1 forming an airtight space, and two inner tubes located inside the outer tube 1, one end of which is connected to the outer tube base 7 and sealed, and the other end of which is open to the airtight space. It has an inner and outer double pipe structure consisting of 3 parts. A rare gas of several Torr and a small amount of mercury are sealed in the outer tube 1, and electrodes 4 are arranged at the sealed ends of the two inner tubes 3, respectively. A low-pressure mercury vapor type is carried out between these two electrodes 4, and ultraviolet rays generated from plasma within the inner tube 3 are converted into visible light by the phosphor 5 coated on the inner surface of the inner tube 3.

The feature of a lamp with this structure is that the inner tube 3, which is the light emitting part,
Because the space inside the lamp is continuous with the space inside the outer tube 1, the mercury vapor pressure inside the inner tube 3, which affects lamp efficiency, is determined by the temperature of the coldest part of the outer tube 1. . Therefore,
This alleviates the reduction in lamp efficiency caused by an excessive rise in the temperature of the coldest part of the lamp, which is a problem with high-pressure fluorescent lamps and compact lamps with external covers. On the other hand, with this structure, a portion of the light generated in the inner tube enters the base of the outer tube.

従って、外管基底部が光を吸収すると効率が低下する。Therefore, when the outer tube base absorbs light, the efficiency decreases.

Additionally, if the outer tube base is transparent, light will pass through it and reach the cap (which houses the ballast) and be absorbed, significantly reducing efficiency. In known examples, chromium iron is used as the material for the base of the outer tube, but metal has a large absorption of light and is disadvantageous in terms of efficiency. However, adding a new light reflecting plate complicates the lamp manufacturing process.

The material for the base of the outer tube, which also serves as a reflector, is ceramic such as forsterite. However, the drawback of ceramic is that when sealing it with the outer glass tube, a method of melting and connecting the two (welding) cannot be used. For this purpose, low-melting glass powder is used as an adhesive for the connection. However, the method using glass powder requires a longer working time than welding.

Hereinafter, one embodiment of the present invention will be explained with reference to FIG. 1. The lamp shown in the six figures uses cloudy glass as the material of the outer bulb base 2. An example of this type of glass is one that contains many small bubbles inside. Since the light is diffusely reflected by the bubbles, much of it returns into the lamp. For this reason, the efficiency increased by approximately 3% compared to a lamp of the same structure using a metal plate for the outer tube base member.

The advantage of using glass for the outer tube base member is that it can be connected to the outer tube by welding, which shortens the working time. This embodiment uses this manufacturing method. Further, in this lamp, the inner tube 3 and the outer tube base 2 are fixed with a white inorganic adhesive 6. The above method simplifies lamp manufacturing. However, the method for manufacturing the lamp is not limited to this.

また、内管の形状はこの図に限るものではない。Furthermore, the shape of the inner tube is not limited to that shown in this figure.

FIG. 3 shows another embodiment, in which three inner tubes 3 are arranged inside the outer tube 1. Two of the inner tubes are connected in series by a connecting portion 8, and discharge is generated through the remaining inner tube and the open end 9. The outer tube base portion 2 is made of cloudy glass. Further, 10 is a base portion. This lamp has the same effect.

According to the present invention, since the base of the outer tube also serves as a reflector and can be connected to the outer tube by welding, a simple and efficient lamp can be obtained.
