Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the writing error due to a medium dust and to contrive a longer service life of writing head and magnetic tape by changing the contact state of a magnetic tape head and magnetic tape by a reading head and writing head. CONSTITUTION:A head block 6 is made by providing the tape guides 2, 3 for abutting a magnetic tape to a magnetic tape head 4 at both sides of the head 4 having the reading head R/writing head W of a magnetic tape device. A flange magnet 7 and the plate 8 which is held by the magnet 7 and movable vertically are provided on the guide 2 of one part of this block 6. And in case of the read motion, a tape 1 is run reversely in the state of separating the contact of the tape 1 and head W by moving the guide 2 to the upper part by driving the magnet 7. In case of the write motion, the service life of the head W and tape 1 is made longer by bringing the tape 1 into contact with the head W by the guide 2 by driving the magnet 7.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Summary] In a magnetic tape device, a magnetic tape head having a read/write head is always in close contact with a magnetic tape by a tape guide. The tape guide is moved up and down to change the contact state between the magnetic tape and the magnetic tape head depending on whether it is read or written, preventing dust from being generated by the write head, eliminating write errors, and extending the life of the read head and magnetic tape. We aim to make this possible.

Conventionally, the write head W and read head R of the magnetic tape head 4 are brought into close contact with the magnetic tape 1, and the magnetic tape L is run in the direction of the arrow, and immediately after writing with the write head W, it is reproduced and checked with the read head R. . Further, when an error is detected in a check or when a tape mark search is performed, back reading is performed in which the magnetic tape 1 is returned and read in the opposite direction. In this case, since the write head W is slid in contact with the magnetic tape 1 even though it is not necessary, the write head W collects dust 5 and the like at the position shown in FIG. If a write operation is started in this state, there is a problem in that this dust may cause lie I/error.

The illustrated state is a write state in which the magnetic tape head 4 and the magnetic tape 1 are in contact with each other. Both the write head W and the read head R contact the magnetic tape 1, and immediately after writing with the write head W, the read head reproduces the data to check whether the written data is correct. When an error is detected, the magnetic tape 1 is temporarily stopped, the magnetic tape 1 is moved back one block without being read, and then moved forward again to perform rewriting.
