Abstract

PURPOSE:To cause no adhesion and deformation at the covering section during vulganization. So as to improve productivity by vulcanizing foaming-agent-added rubber material to form a covering section and no-foaming-agent-added rubber material to form a glass wiping section after extruding them en bloc. CONSTITUTION:A wiper blade protection cover 1 is composed of a covering section 11 shaped in a thin tube and and made of foaming rubber to cover and protect a wiper blade 2, and a non-foaming-rubber-made glass wiping section 12 which is formed incorporatively with the covering section 11 in the direction of its axis, protects the wiper blade at its base, and wipes the glass at its tip. In this case, the covering section 11 is made of rubber material added with foaming agent, and the glass wiping section 12 is made of rubber material with no foaming agent, and the glass wiping section 12 is made of rubber material with no foaming agent. And these both are extruded en bloc to form the wiper blade protection cover 1. This enables production of the wiper blade protection cover 1 by extrusion without adhesion of portions of the covering section 11 or between the covering section 11 and the glass wiping section 12.

In winter, especially in cold regions, the wiper blades of automobiles may freeze. When it freezes, the connection between the blade lever and lever yoke of the wiper blade stops moving, so the blade rubber does not follow the curved surface of the glass, making the wiper function impossible. Therefore, in order to prevent such a situation from occurring, a wiper blade protective cover is used. This protective cover is made of rubber, and generally includes a cylindrical cover portion that encloses the wiper blade and a glass wiping portion that are integrally formed. In this case, the rubber thickness of the cover part is very thin so as not to obstruct the operation of the wiper blade, and is usually about 0.5 to 1.5 mm.

As a manufacturing method for this wiper blade protective cover, the extrusion molding method cannot be applied because the thin film-like cover parts adhere to each other during vulcanization, causing deformation, and the top of the wiping part adheres to the deformed cover part. If this is difficult, latex molding or die molding is generally used.

However, in these molding methods, since the cover part is thin, it is difficult for the raw rubber to flow, and the thin film of the cover part is easily damaged when the core is removed, resulting in poor productivity. There is also a protective cover in which a cover part formed by molding using a mandrel etc. and a wiping part obtained by molding etc. are assembled, but water that enters into the gap between the assembled parts freezes. There is a problem that the deformability of the cover portion is inhibited.

[Means and effects for solving the problem] The present invention uses a rubber material to which a foaming agent has been added as the rubber material for molding the cover part, and a rubber material to which no foaming agent is added as the rubber material for the glass wiping part (blade rubber). The invention is characterized in that a wiper blade protective cover having a cover portion made of foamed rubber is obtained by integrally extruding the two rubbers.

The amount of the foaming agent added is determined in consideration of the elongation of the foamed rubber obtained, the stress during tensile stress, the amount of expansion of the cover portion, etc. The appropriate amount of the foaming agent added is about 0.2 to 2 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the rubber to which the foaming agent is added.

First, a wiper blade protective cover obtained according to the present invention will be explained with reference to the drawings. The wiper blade protective cover 1 includes a thin-walled cylindrical cover part 11 made of foam rubber to cover and protect the wiper blade 2, and is integrally formed with the cover part 11 along its axial direction, and the wiper blade protector 1 is formed integrally with the cover part 11 along the axial direction. It consists of a glass wiping part 12 made of non-foamed rubber that holds the blade and wipes the glass with its tip.

No mutual adhesion or irregular deformation was observed in the cover portion. The thickness of the cover part during extrusion is about 0.5 mm, and the thickness of the cover part of the product obtained by foaming during vulcanization is about 1.0 to 0.5 mm depending on the amount of foaming agent. It was in the range of qmm.

Table 2 shows the specific gravity and stress of the cover portion of the obtained product in relation to the amount of foaming agent added. In the table, the foaming agent addition amount O indicates a comparative example in which a large amount of foaming agent was added, that is, a conventional example in which both the cover part and the wiping part were integrally extruded using the wiping part material shown in Table 1. Further, EB indicates tensile elongation, and σ□ indicates stress at 25% tensile strength.

As is known from the results shown in Table 2, the foamed cover portion of the wiper blade protective cover of the present invention has a minimum tensile elongation of 220%, and if it has this level of elongation, the wiper blade will Deformation can be followed sufficiently. In particular, the stress during tension is smaller than that of non-foamed material, and it is extremely flexible, providing no resistance to the deformation of the wiper blade.

Note that when the amount of blowing agent added is less than 0.2 parts by weight, a remarkable improvement in flexibility can be seen compared to the case where no blowing agent is added. Furthermore, the amount of gas generated during vulcanization is small, and the effect of preventing deformation of the cover portion is insufficient.

On the other hand, if the amount added exceeds 2 parts by weight, the elongation of the cover portion will be insufficient, and the gas pressure during foaming will become too high, causing the cover portion to be easily damaged.

As explained above, according to the present invention, if the material that does not contain a foaming agent to form the wiping part and the material that contains a foaming agent to form the cover part are co-extruded, the material will adhere to the cover part during vulcanization. Productivity is extremely high because products with desired shapes can be obtained without any deformation or deformation.
