Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the occurrence of vibratory noises due to a pressure variation in exhaust in a more effective manner, by setting a sound absorbing material, with pressure, to an outer surface of at least the nonsetting side of an exhaust cylinder by means of a holding plate. CONSTITUTION:A sound absorbing material 15 is set, with pressure contact, to an outer surface of a semicylinder body 3 to be situated at the nonsetting side, namely, the body outside by a holding plate 16. While an exhaust noise is led into an exhaust cylinder body 2, this body 2 is going to vibrate due to a pressure variation in exhaust, but and outer surface of the semicylinder body 3 is covered with the sound absorbing material 15 with pressure so that such force as causing the exhaust cylinder body 3 to be vibrated is checked. In addition, since the outer surface of the semicylinder body 2 is intercepted by the sound absorbing material 15 and made so as not to come into contact with air directly, air vibration caused by the exhaust cylinder body 2 is thus reduced.

In this type of exhaust muffler, high-frequency components in the engine exhaust sound are reduced by arranging sound-absorbing material inside the exhaust cylinder, but this method sufficiently reduces vibration noise caused by exhaust pressure fluctuations. difficult to do. Therefore,
As previously disclosed in Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 56-64114, this applicant placed a sound-absorbing material on the inner circumferential surface of the exhaust cylinder to prevent the exhaust cylinder from vibrating due to pressure fluctuations in the exhaust gas. We proposed an exhaust muffler to prevent this.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) By the way, the vibration noise of the exhaust muffler is generated by the exhaust cylinder body vibrating due to the pressure fluctuation of the exhaust gas, and the air being vibrated thereby. Therefore, in order to effectively prevent the generation of vibration noise, it is necessary to suppress the vibration of the exhaust cylinder as much as possible and to prevent the vibration from being transmitted to the air.

This invention was made in view of the above points, and it effectively suppresses the vibrations of the exhaust cylinder body that constitutes the exhaust muffler, and also suppresses as much as possible the transmission of the vibrations of the exhaust cylinder body to the air. The purpose of the present invention is to provide an exhaust muffler that more effectively reduces noise generation.

(Means for Solving the Problems) In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the present invention forms an exhaust cylinder body by joining and fixing a pair of half cylinders to each other, and directs the exhaust gas from the engine into the exhaust cylinder. The exhaust muffler is characterized in that a sound absorbing material is held in pressure contact with at least the outer surface of the non-attached side of the exhaust cylinder by a retaining plate.

(Function) In this invention, a sound absorbing material is held in pressure contact with at least the outer surface of the non-attached side of the exhaust cylinder body formed by joining and fixing a pair of half cylinder bodies of the exhaust muffler to each other, and the sound absorbing material is held in pressure contact with the retaining plate. When pressure fluctuations occur in the body due to exhaust gas, this causes the exhaust cylinder to vibrate, but since the sound-absorbing material is held in pressure contact with the outer surface of the exhaust cylinder, the vibrations of the exhaust cylinder are suppressed by the sound-absorbing material. Reduced. Moreover, since the sound-absorbing material is pressed against the outer surface of the exhaust cylinder and placed between the vibrating exhaust cylinder and the air, the vibration of the exhaust cylinder is blocked by the sound-absorbing material and does not vibrate the air. Vibration noise is effectively reduced.

In this way, the exhaust gas is muffled by repeatedly expanding and contracting within the exhaust muffler, and the high frequency components of the exhaust sound are eliminated by the sound absorbing material 15 disposed on the inner peripheral surface of the exhaust cylinder body 2.

On the other hand, while the exhaust sound is being guided into the exhaust cylinder 2, the exhaust cylinder 2 tends to vibrate due to pressure fluctuations in the exhaust, but the sound absorbing material 15 presses against the outer surface of the half cylinder 3 and covers it. Therefore, the force generated in the exhaust cylinder body 2 to cause it to vibrate is suppressed. In addition, since the outer surface of the half cylinder body 3 is blocked by the sound absorbing material 15 to prevent direct contact with air, the exhaust cylinder body 3

(Effects of the Invention) As described above, the present invention has an exhaust cylinder body formed by joining and fixing a pair of half cylinder bodies of an exhaust muffler to each other, and a sound absorbing material is held on at least the outer surface of the non-attached side of the exhaust cylinder body. Since it is held in pressure contact with the plate, even if the exhaust cylinder body tries to vibrate due to pressure fluctuations due to exhaust gas in the exhaust muffler, the sound absorbing material is held in pressure contact with the exhaust cylinder body, so the vibration of the exhaust cylinder body is effectively suppressed. Moreover, since the sound-absorbing material is pressed against the outer surface of the exhaust cylinder and the vibration of the exhaust cylinder is not transmitted to the air, the vibration noise is further effectively reduced.
