Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase usable amount of information by providing a means reading information at a region before the start marker of a magnetic tape at loading of the magnetic tape and a means writing the information to said region at unloading of the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:A circuit for controlling a region prior to a start marker takes over the control of the region prior to a start marker of a magnetic tape of a read control circuit 2, a write control circuit 3 and a running control circuit 4 from an interface control circuit 1 and processes the information. After the start marker of the magnetic tape is detected at the loading of the magnetic tape, the tape is reversed by a distance to the region before the start point of the magnetic tape to read the information, then the tape is forwarded until the magnetic tape start point marker is detected to bring the mode to the magnetic tape device ready.
