Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the intervals of paper feed by correcting the rotating speed of a feed roller, according to a difference between the standard conveyance velocity and the actual conveyance velocity at which a paper sheet is supplied from paper feeding part to preliminary paper feeding position. CONSTITUTION:When a paper feeding signal is given, a feed roller 2a and a pickup roller 1 in a friction separation roller 2 are made to rotate, and a paper sheet at the minimum part of a paper sheet stack is made to pass a sensor S1 and conveyed until it is detected by a sensor 2. In this instance, conveyance velocity from sensor 1 to sensor 2 is calculated by an operation control means 8, according to distance between the said sensors S1 and S2 and a difference of passage time at S1 and S2. By comparing the conveyance velocity with the standard conveyance velocity, the rotating speed of the feed roller 2a is corrected, depending upon a difference in the comparison. The scatter of paper edge positions is thereby absorbed and the intervals of paper feeding can be shortened.

Detailed Description of the Invention (Technical Field) The present invention employs a friction separation paper feeding system, in which a feed roller and a separating member (a fixed pad, roller, or a reversing roller via a torque limiter, etc.) are brought into pressure contact with each other. The present invention relates to a method for controlling paper feeding at small paper intervals in a paper feeding system that separates paper from being fed.

(Prior art) Normally, the number of copies per copy is determined by the linear speed and spacing (because the size is fixed), so in high-speed copying machines, it is necessary to increase the linear speed (paper conveyance speed by rollers) and paper feed. Efforts are being made to shorten the interval.

For friction separation paper feeding (fixed retard type), a method is known in which multiple sensors are arranged and the paper feeding interval is controlled based on the sum of the sensor detection time and the set time. The influence of size, roller changes over time, environmental changes, etc. is not constant, and the influence of these changes is extremely large. The paper spacing could not be made sufficiently small using the control method described above.

(Structure) To achieve this, the present invention feeds the paper sent out from the paper feeding unit to the preliminary paper feeding position and temporarily stops the paper, detects the actual conveyance speed at the time of refeeding the paper, and uses this to detect the actual conveyance speed at the time of refeeding the paper. The present invention is characterized in that the scheduled re-feeding time of the paper stopped at the preliminary paper-feeding position is corrected.

(Effects) The present invention is as described above, and this method can absorb paper leading edge position variations unique to the friction separation method, including irregularities in the initial position) mechanical differences, paper differences, environmental changes over time, etc. This makes it possible to compensate for variations in conveyance speed. Therefore, the spacing that must be taken due to these variations can be eliminated, and the paper spacing can be set small.
