Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a fluororubber composition having good roll processability before vulcanization and excellent acid resistance and vulcanization characteristics, by incorporating a specified fluororubber mixture as a rubber component. CONSTITUTION:A fluororubber composition which contains a rubber component comprising 30-95wt% tetrafluoroethylene.propylene copolymer rubber (fluororubber I ) and 70-5wt% difluoroethylene.hexafluoropropylene copolymer rubber (fluororubber II) or difluoroethylene.hexafluoropropylene.tetrafluoroethylene terpolymer (fluororubber III). Additives such as carbon black, a peroxide, a softening agent, an antioxidant, and an age resistor each in a suitable amount are incorporated into the composition if necessary. If the amount of fluororubber II or III is less than 5wt%, the roll processability will not be improved; if above 70wt%, the tackiness to the roll will increase and thereby the processability will become worse.

Various proposals have been made to improve the roll processability when using the above-mentioned tetrafluoroethylene/propylene copolymer rubber, such as adding compounding agents such as liquid polybutene and liquid fluororubber. However, when such compounding agents are added, although the roll processability at room temperature is improved, there is a drawback that the roll processability, acid resistance, and vulcanization properties at high temperatures are reduced. As described above, the current situation is that a fluororubber composition for use in lining materials for iron surfaces and the like that has excellent roll processability, acid resistance, and vulcanization properties when unvulcanized has not yet been obtained.

As a result of intensive research in line with the above objectives, the present inventors separated the rubber of a fluororubber composition into a tetrafluoroethylene/propylene copolymer rubber and a 27-fluoroethylene/hexafluoropropylene copolymer. By using rubber and/or difluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene, and tetrafluoroethylene terpolymer rubber in a specific ratio, it has excellent acid resistance and vulcanization properties, and also has excellent vulcanization properties when unvulcanized. The inventors have discovered that a fluororubber composition with good processability, particularly roll processability, can be obtained, leading to the present invention.
