Abstract

PURPOSE:To display a saturation level at low cost by displaying the magnetic saturation level of a magnetic tape on the same meter together with a recording or reproducing level and replacing the brightness of an exceeding part or that of the saturation level display with that of the meter. CONSTITUTION:A CPU makes an oscillator output the prescribed signal used for detecting the magnetic saturation level. The signal is recorded and reproduced to be at the saturation level, converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter, and stored in a saturation level memory device. During the sound- recording action or reproducing action a reproducing signal or a recording input signal is A/D converted, dots at the level or dots below the level are lighted and the dot equivalent to the saturation level stored in the saturation level memory device. When the recording level or the reproducing level exceeds the magnetic saturation level, the brightness of the level meter corresponding to the exceeding part is replaced with the other one. Thus the magnetic saturation level can be displayed without raising the cost of the level meter.
