Various conventional methods and devices for placing intravenous catheters have been devised, but the most common catheter placement devices include catheters made of flexible plastic tubes, and catheters for connecting to injection devices for drug solutions, etc. The catheter consists of a connecting device installed at the rear end of the catheter and a tubular puncture needle made of metal or plastic.The catheter is inserted into the vein from outside the body through the hollow part of the puncture needle, but after the catheter is placed in place. After the puncture needle is removed from the vein, the puncture needle cannot be removed from the catheter due to the connection device at the rear end of the catheter, and the puncture needle used for stationary operation remains over the catheter while the catheter is indwelling. It has drawbacks, especially when the catheter is left in place for a long period of time.

Furthermore, the above-mentioned catheter has the disadvantage that it is difficult to maintain the sterile state of the catheter because the catheter itself must be held directly in the hand to perform the stationary operation. In order to improve this drawback, some conventional devices have been developed in which the catheter is placed in a flexible transparent bag, and the catheter is inserted from above the transparent bag through a puncture needle in order to maintain the sterile state of the catheter during stationary operation. Although the catheter is manually operated, it is not only difficult to perform the operation through the transparent bag, but also has the disadvantage that the catheter cannot be connected to the injection device before the operation is performed in place.

In order to improve this problem, in order to maintain sterile conditions and improve the operability of catheter placement, the catheter has a longitudinal separation line from the puncture needle, which is a tubular needle, at the base of the tubular needle. The special public Shodai is engaged and has a hermetic sheath containing a catheter therein.
43-20519 is known. However, in this placement device, not only does the sealing sheath with a separation line have the possibility of breaking the seal due to an incorrect external force, but also, as with conventional catheter placement devices, the tubular needle that is the puncture needle is separated from the catheter placement device. It had the essential drawback that it could not be removed.

Another feature of the present invention that is made possible by having the above structure is that it generally does not have a special structure such as a plastic tube for storing the catheter to protect it before the catheter placement operation. By cutting the catheter inside the protective tube, it becomes possible to place the catheter in place through the hollow part of the puncture needle without touching the catheter directly.

The above objects are achieved by the following catheter placement device. That is, a tubular puncture needle made of plastic, a protective tube connected to the puncture needle at its tip, a catheter having a tip disposed within the protective tube and ending near the tip of the protective tube, and coupled to the end of the catheter. a connected device,
In order to cut and remove the protective tube when the catheter is advanced through the puncture needle and out of the puncture needle, and to cut and remove the puncture needle when the catheter placement operation is completed, a knife installed at the rear end of the catheter and a knife installed at the rear end of the catheter are used. This catheter positioning device is characterized by having a holding device that fixes the knife and the connecting device and guides the protective tube and puncture needle during cutting.

FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of the protective tube and puncture needle. The protective tube 2 is a tube made of flexible plastic or a similar material, preferably transparent so that the catheter contained therein can be seen, and into which a puncture needle can be inserted. The puncture needle 3 is made of flexible but rigid plastic and has been widely used as a device for introducing catheters into the body.Generally, this puncture needle is made of a metal injection needle before placing the catheter in place. A syringe with a needle is inserted into the outside of the needle, and a vein is punctured with the cutting edge of the needle sticking out from the tip of the puncture needle, and by removing the syringe from the puncture needle after puncturing, only the puncture needle is placed in the vein. After that, the protective tube 2 is connected to the base of the puncture needle 3, which is the catheter insertion port. With the structure explained above, the puncture needle 3 at the tip
The protective tube 2 is cut by the knife 6 by advancing the holding device 1 having a knife 6 inside it along the protective tube 2 connected to the protective tube 2;
A catheter 5 connected at its rear end to a connecting device 4 in the holding device and housed in the protective tube 2
advances to the outside of the puncture needle through the hollow part of the puncture needle 3. Further, when the catheter 5 is completely placed, the protective tube 2 is cut and removed to the rear of the holding device 1, and the puncture needle 3 is passed through the holding device 1, and the protective tube is cut by the knife 6. and removed from the holding device. Finally, the holding device 1 is fixed to the patient to complete the placement operation.
It is clear that the catheter placement device of the present invention, like the conventional catheter device consisting of a catheter, a puncture needle, and a connection device, can have an injection device for liquid medicine or the like coupled to the connection device during catheter placement operation. It is.

In addition, FIG. 7 shows an embodiment of the holding device section of the present invention having a different structure, similar to FIG. 2, showing a cross section of the holding device excluding the puncture needle and the protective tube. In the example, the puncture needle and the protective tube were cut into two by the knife inside the holding device, whereas this device has a structure in which the puncture needle and the protective tube are cut into two by the knife inside the holding device.
The inner knife 6 has its blade directed toward the rear end of the catheter 5, one end is fixed to the holding device 1, and the other end is joined to the connection part 8 of the connection device 4 with the catheter 5, and the puncture needle and protection This catheter placement device has a structure in which the tube is cut into a slit in the longitudinal direction at one location around the tube and the puncture needle and protective tube are removed from the catheter placement device.
