Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled packing having excellent sealing and handling properties, and suitable as a gasket for the exhaustion tube of automobile, by bonding and laminating a flexible graphite sheet with a foil, cutting the laminate in the form of a tape, twisting the tape, and knitting the packing with the twisted yarn. CONSTITUTION:A flexible graphite sheet is bonded and laminated with a foil such as metallic foil (e.g. aluminum foil) or paper (e.g. rayon paper), and is cut in the form of a tape. A plurality of the tapes are twisted together to form a twisted yarn, which is knit into the objective packing.

(Prior art) Conventionally, this type of packing is required to have good bearing properties and self-lubricating properties, so it has been made of flexible graphite.
It was mainly constructed using a sheet-shaped material as a base material, and in addition to the laminate type, the Goui mold type, the chip mold type, and the ribbon pack type were proposed.

(Problem to be solved by the invention) However, with the conventional molded packing made of flexible graphite sheet, it is necessary to mold it into a ring shape in advance according to the shaft diameter to be used, It cannot be used as a material, has poor versatility, and graphite sheets alone have low tensile strength and are brittle, making it difficult to remove them for replacement once they have been installed. For example, as shown in FIG. 4, metal layers b, etc. are interposed between the graphite layers a, etc. in order to make it possible to take them out with a tool, which causes high costs. Furthermore, the packing was abnormally deformed inside the box, resulting in uneven density and problems with sealing performance.

In addition, the problems with each of the above methods are that when using the laminating method, the yield is low and the cost is high; when using the Guimold method and the chip mold method, the cost is high and the cost is high when using the Guimold method and the chip mold method, and the ribbon back method is poor in versatility. In each case, poor workability was cited.

(Means for Solving the Problems) The present invention was invented with the aim of solving the above problems, and consists of adhesively laminating a flexible graphite sheet and a foil material such as metal foil or paper. This method is characterized in that a plurality of tapes are cut into tape shapes, a plurality of tapes are heated to form twisted yarns, and the twisted yarns are braided as knitting yarns.

(Function) By forming an A-layer tape-like body with metal foil etc., the flexible graphite sheet is reinforced and heated.
By heating, the elongation rate is increased, making it possible to braid the twisted yarn with an ordinary braiding machine without yarn breakage.

(Example) Example 1 As shown in Fig. 1, aramid papers 2, 2 with a thickness of 0.03 mm were adhered to both sides of a flexible graphite sheet l with a thickness of 0.25+s+* with micro wax, and a laminated sheet was formed. Cut the tape-shaped piece into 2 pieces to form a tape-shaped body,
After first twisting these three tape-shaped bodies 100 times/II, three more of these first twists were assembled and final twisting was performed 30 times to form a knitting yarn. It was knitted and press-molded at a molding surface pressure of 100 kg/cm' to form a package.

Example 2 As shown in Fig. 2, flexible graphite sheets with a thickness of 0.25mm were placed on both sides of aramid paper 2 with a thickness of 0.03mm.
1.1 was adhered with microwax to form a laminated sheet, which was then cut into 21-width pieces to form a tape-like body.
Pre-twist the tape-like bodies of these three trees for 455! After applying II, collect three more of these first twists and make final twist 122! II to form a knitting yarn. Using this knitting yarn, a packing was formed in the same manner as in Example 1.

1! II. With the flexible graphite braided packing of the present invention, the packing can be stored in the form of a string and can be widely applied to various shaft diameters. It can be easily used by cutting it into pieces, installing it in a stuffing box, and press-molding it with a tightening port. Furthermore, as shown in Table 1, compared to the conventional dynamold packing, the packing surface is smooth with considerably lower tightening pressure, and there is no abnormal deformation, so the sealing performance is significantly improved.

Furthermore, the high-strength foil material is distributed almost uniformly inside the packing, and it can be removed for replacement with a normal packing tool, making it easy to handle.
