Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the cleaning effect by providing a remaining toner removing means and a belt-shaped rubbing member which rubs the surface of an image carrier at various speeds. CONSTITUTION:A rubbing belt 202 has a large contacting area by the interval between two parallel rolls 203 and 204 and is brought into contact with all of the surface of an image carrier 201 in the breadthwise direction. This rubbing belt 202 has both ends wound around rolls 205 and 206 and rubs the surface of the image carrier 201 by going and returning motions. Materials having a high wear resistance are selected properly as materials of the rubbing belt 202, and the allowable range of hardness of the rubbing belt 202 and rolls 203 and 204 is wide. An elastic blade 207 which removes the remaining toner is provided.

Such an image forming apparatus using an electrostatic photographic process charges the surface of the image carrier with a plurality of corona chargers for the purpose of charging the image carrier, transferring a toner image to a transfer member, etc. is common. Therefore, molecules in the air change due to corona discharge, and substances such as nitrogen oxides may be generated. These corona products adhere to the surface of the image carrier and reduce the resistance of the surface of the image carrier in a high humidity environment.
This may have an adverse effect, such as blurring the electrostatic image formed on the surface of the image carrier. Conventionally, in order to remove the above-mentioned adverse effects, the surface of the image carrier is rubbed by heating and drying the image carrier, or by pressing a roller made of silicone rubber onto the surface of the image carrier and rotating it. Methods such as rubbing and removing corona products have been proposed. In particular, the latter method is stable and effective even when the image carrier is used for a long period of time (9), and is also effective when the surface of the image carrier is coated with substances in a transfer member such as RJJIK1 paper or when toner is fused. It is also effective in removing FIG. 1 shows the configuration of one embodiment of this method. In the figure, reference numeral 101 denotes a cylindrical photoreceptor), which rotates in the direction indicated by the same arrow. This photoreceptor 10
After 1 is uniformly charged by a corona discharger 102, it is irradiated with image exposure 105 to form a static image corresponding to the original document, which is visualized by a developing means 104. The developed toner 1 is supplied from a transfer member feeder 105 to a transfer member 109, where it is given an electric charge of opposite polarity to the toner by a transfer corona discharger 106 from the back side as necessary.
transcribed. Thereafter, the transfer member 109 is separated, transported, and fixed as necessary. Thereafter, the photoreceptor 101 is rubbed by a rubbing roller 107-IK in a cleaning device 107 to remove substances that cause image blur on the surface, and then residual toner is removed by a cleaning blade 107-2Vc. Pre-exposure 108 removes residual charges and moves on to the next cycle. At this time, the rubbing roller 10

Any speed is fine. In the figure, 107-5 is a scraper 107-4 for removing toner etc. adhering to the surface of the rubbing roller IQ7-1.

WI rubbing members usually have elastic bodies such as urethane rubber or silicone rubber arranged concentrically around a metal shaft for the purpose of a sliding effect. On the other hand, in order to increase the rubbing effect, K is
It is necessary to increase the contact area between the sliding member and the image carrier, but there is a limit to the diameter of the sliding member.
If the pressing pressure of the sliding member is increased, problems such as toner fusion will occur, and lowering the hardness of the sliding member will improve the abrasion resistance required of the sliding member and reduce compression set. In many cases, it is difficult to obtain a sufficient contact area because the contact area is small and is often contradictory to other properties such as high tear strength.

The present invention has been made in view of the current situation, and it is an object of the present invention to increase the contact area between the rubbing member and the image carrier without being restricted by the pressing pressure or the material and hardness of the sliding member. The object of the present invention is to provide a cleaning device that can change the contact rfJ product depending on the case.

In FIG. 5, a scraper 507 is installed to remove residual toner and paper powder on the rubbing belt 302. Due to the elasticity of the rubbing belt 5020, the permissible width of the position of the scraper 507 is widened, and scraper defects do not occur even if a mechanism for adjusting the position of the scraper is not provided.
