Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a magnetic recording head of which the thin magnetic film contacts always stably with a recording medium and which can maintain stably a recording density characteristic by providing a main magnetic pole made into the construction in which the thin magnetic film is sandwiched by holding materials softer than the hardness of said film and an auxiliary magnetic pole in a manner as to face each other with the recording medium in-between. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording head is constituted with the auxiliary magnetic pole 2 having a winding 1 and the main magnetic pole 6 with the medium 5 having an FeNi layer 3 and a CoCr layer 4 in-between. The medium 5 travels while the pole 6 and said medium 5 are held in contact with each other under specified load in order to execute magnetic recording and reproducing at high density. The pole 6 consists of the thin magnetic film 7 and the non-magnetic holding materials 8 for holding said film. The materials 8 are made of the material softer than the film 7. The top end of the pole 6 itself wears down gradully in such constitution but the materials 8 wear down earlier than the film 7 and therefore the film 7 is eventually exposed at all times from the top end of pole 6. The stable recording density characteristic is thus maintained.
