Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the tip part of a main magnetic pole from wearing down to improve the recording and reproducing characteristics by making the sectional area of the face, which is brought into contact with a recording medium, of the main magnetic pole smaller than that of an auxiliary magnetic pole. CONSTITUTION:The sectional area of a tip part 8 of a main magnetic pole 2 is made smaller than that of a tip part 7 of an auxiliary magnetic pole 1. Therefore, though the tip part of the main magnetic pole 2 wears down when a medium 3 and the main magnetic pole 2 are moved while being brought into contact with each other, a recess is not generated because the tip part of the main magnetic pole 2 is pressed by the auxiliary magnetic pole 1 having a larger sectional area and wears always; and consequently, the recording and reproducing characteristics is not degraded even if the magnetic head is used for a long time.

録される。さらに再生はこの逆に磁化された磁性層6が
磁性薄膜6を励磁し、巻線4に信号電圧を発生する。こ
の場合、媒体3とヘッドとの相互電磁変換を安定に行う
ため、補助磁極1と主磁極2は一定の荷重で媒体3に圧
着され、媒体3が移動することにより、記録再生が行な
われるのである。この場合接触を安定に行なうため、通
常補助磁極1の媒体3に接触する部分の面積を主磁極2
側のそれより小さくして加圧していた。ここで、主磁極
2の先端部は媒体3の磁性層6に接触移動するため、表
面が摩耗する。通常、主磁極先端部には硬い材料を用い
ることにより摩耗しないようにするが、それれも長時間
使用することにより先端部が、第2図のように減り、媒
体との接触面に間隙が生じて記録再生特性が悪化する欠
点があった。

良好な記録再生特性が得られない場合にもある程度の使
用を経過することにより洗端部が摩耗し、間隙がなくな
り、記録再生特性が向」ニするという効果も有する。
