Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 （産業上の利用分野） 本発明は、複数の画像形成部を有する画像形成装置に関
するものである。
（従来技術） 従来、複数の画像形成部を有する画像形成装置が提案さ
れている。しかしながら、この様な画像形成装置におい
ては、単一の画像形成部を有する振合と同様の簡易な制
御を行うことは不可能であり、またその構造が極めて複
雑化することを免れないという問題点があった。
（発明の目的） 本発明は、上述の従来例の欠点を除去すると同時に、記
録材搬送の制御を簡易化した画像形成装置の提供を目的
としている。
（実施例） 第１図は、本発明の一実施例を示す複写紙の搬送路装置
の略図である。１および２は、複数の給紙台で、各給紙
台内の積載紙は、それぞれ給紙ローラ３および４により
一枚毎給紙される。５および６は、それぞれ画像形成の
ためのドラムＤ１およびＤ２で、各ドラムの周辺には画
像形成のための帯露器、現像器等種々の装置が配設され
ている（特に図示しない）。前記各ドラム５、６上の静
電画像は、現像器により可視像となり、その各画像は、
１３および１４の転写帯電器により各記録紙上に転写さ
れ、１１および１２の各定着器によって永久的な画像と
なる。７は、定着器１１を通過した記録紙が経路ａから
経路ｃもしくは経路ｄへの進行を選択するだめのデフレ
クタであり、図示しないソレノイドによって駆動制御す
る。８は、正逆転可能な反転送りローラ、９、１０はそ
れぞれ画像形成された記録紙の排紙部トレー、１５、１
６は、記録紙の有無を検知するセンサ装置のそれぞれ発
光部と受光部である。
前記デフレクタ７は、ソレノイドによって経路ａ上の記
録紙を、常時は経路ｃ，ｅを経由して排紙部トレー９へ
送る方向に向けられており、ローラ８は時計方向ＣＷに
回転する。また、１７，１８はそれぞれレーザビームを
走査するスキャナで、とのレーザビームは、各ミラー１
９．２０により反射されて各ドラムＤ１、Ｄ２・５・６
に照射される。これにより、ドラムＤ１、Ｄ２上に静電
潜像が形成される。
前記搬送経路は、ａ、ｂ、ｃ、ｄ、ｅに大別され、給紙
台１から供給された記録紙は、つぎの３通りの搬送路経
路を通過させることができる。
イ）ａ→ｃ→ｅ、ロ）ａ→ｄ、ハ）ａ→ｃ→ｄ。
これに対して、給紙台２から供給された記録紙は、ｂ→
ｄ経路のみである。前記イ）の場合は、デフレクタ７お
よびローラ８が特に制御されていない場合、ロ）は、デ
フレクタ７のソレノイドのみが作動した場合、またハ）
は、両面プリントモードのとき、デフレクタ７のソレノ
イドが作動し、記録紙の進行方向後端が前記センサ装置
の受光部１６で検出された時に、ローラ８が反時計方向
ＣＣＷに回転した場合に相当する。この場合、センサ受
光部１６にて上記記録紙後端（ローラ８の前記時計方向
回転ＣＷ時とは反対の）を検出すると再び時計方向ＣＷ
回転に復元する。
第２図は、上記制御に必要な入出力装置のブロック線図
である。本装置内の制御はすべてＣＰＵ２１により行わ
れ、制御プログラム用のリードオンメモリＲＯＭ２２と
、制御用のワークエリアであるランダムアクセスメモリ
ＲＡＭ２３とを有する。
本装置内の原稿読取り装置または外部との通信手段等か
ら伝送されるデータＤＡＴＡを、原稿の各ページ単位で
バッファ２４に貯え、この時点で前記データの書かれる
べきドラムの情報をＣＰＵ２１が読取り、この情報に従
ってセレクタ２５を制御し、ドラムＤ１・５用ページバ
ッファ２６もしくはドラムＤ２用ページバッファ２７に
送る。
しかるのち、ＣＰＵ２１からの命令によりレーザ１２８
まだはレーザ２２９へ出力する。
第３図は、上記の制御フロー線図である。第２図のバッ
ファ２４に前記データがストアされたとき、そのデータ
の書かるべき対象のドラムを示すデータを読み取り、（
ステップ３１）、それがドラムＣ２用のデータであれば
、給紙ローラ４を駆動させて給紙台２から紙を送り出し
（ステップ３３）、搬送路すおよびｄを通ってドラムＤ
２・６でプリントされる。これに反して、バッファ２４
におけるドラムのデータがドラムＤ１・５用であれば、
給紙ローラ３を駆動させて（ステップ３２）紙は搬送路
ａを通過してドラムＤ１・５でプリントされる。
なお、プリント終了後に再び同じ記録紙に重ねてプリン
トする（多重）か、あるいは排紙部トレー１０へ出力し
だい場合には（ステップ３４）、デフレクタ７のソレノ
イドを駆動し、記録紙の搬送方向を、搬送路ｄに切換え
て、記録紙を搬送する（ステップ４１、４２、４３）。
それ以外の場合（すなわち両面プリントもしくは排紙部
トレー９への出力時）では、前記デフレクタ７のソレノ
イドは常時のＯＦＦ状態のままである。ここで記録紙が
両面プリントモードでない場合は、ローラ８の回転方向
は変化しない。これに対して、両面プリントモードの場
合には、その記録紙の後端が第２図のセンサの受光部１
６により検出されると、ローラ８の回転を停止させ（ス
テップ３６、３７）ドラムＤ２・６上の画像に同期した
タイミングでローラ８は反時計方向ＣＣＷの回転全開始
し（ステップ３８）、記録紙が送り出された後の記録紙
後端を検出するとローラ８はおよび時計方向ＣＷ回転に
戻る。
第３図におけるフロー中、ステップ３５〜４０の間は、
前記ドラムデータがドラムＤ２・６用を示していても、
給紙ローラ４の駆動は禁止され、またステップ４１〜４
３の間は、給紙ローラ４の駆動ならびにドラムＤ２・６
上へのデータ書込みは禁止される。
尚、第１図に示した各搬送路の中で、給紙台１および２
を共通とし、搬送路ａ、ｂを同一にすることもできる。
また、正逆転ローラ８の回転方向制御は、センサの受光
器１６に同期させる必要はなく、装置内部のクロック、
例えばドラムクロック等を利用しても差支えない。
（別の実施例） 第４図は、本発明の別の実施例を示す搬送路の略図であ
るっ 第４図において、第１図と同一（相当）構成は同一符号
で示し、重複説明は省略する。給紙台１内の記録紙の先
端部とドラムＤ１・５の転写部との距離ｌ１、給紙台２
内の紙の先端部とドラムＤ２・６の転写部との距離ｌ２
、および紙の有無検出用センサ１５，１６位置からドラ
ムＤ２・６の転写部までの距離ｌ３の、一部あるいはす
べてが等しい場合は、叙上の説明内容以上に制御方法を
単純化することができる。
また、既述以外の特殊プリントモードとして、つぎのよ
うなものがある。すなわち、第１図において、ドラムＤ
１・５、Ｄ２・６に同一のデータを書き、給紙台１から
搬送された紙はＤ１・５によりプリントして排紙部トレ
ー９へ出力し、同時に給紙台２から搬送された紙は、ド
ラムＤ２・６によりプリントして排紙部トレー１０へ出
力するというような、２部のファイルを作成すること、
あるいは、排紙部トレー９と１０とを同一のもので構成
し、ドラムＤ１・５では原稿の奇数ページを、ドラムＤ
２・６では偶数ページをそれぞれプリントし、これを交
互に行うことなども可能である。
さらにまた、本発明の制御は原稿の各ページ毎に行われ
るが、プリンタの開始準備時もしくはファイルの切換え
時に、前述の各モードを設定することも可能である。
（発明の効果） 以上説明してきたように、本発明は、複数の画像形成部
を有する画像形成装置の記録材の搬送経路を、上記名画
像形成部に形成される画像情報により選択制御するよう
に構成したため、記録材の搬送制御方式を極めて簡単化
することができるほか、容易に種々のプリントモードを
実現し得るという効果が帽られる。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 記録材に画像記録する第１の画像記録部と、前記第１の
    記録部より搬送される記録材に画像記録する第２の画像
    記録部と、前記記録材に対する画像記録に係る情報に応
    じて一義的に選択される複数の記録材搬送路と、有する
    ことを特徴とする画像形成装置。
