However, solid golf balls have low rebound resiliency, resulting in poor flight characteristics and an unsatisfactory feel when hit. In order to improve this, techniques have been proposed in which vinyl or allyl monomers are graft-polymerized onto polybutadiene and then cross-linked. However, even with this method, satisfactory rubber hardness could not be obtained, and a golf ball with high resilience and high durability could not be obtained. The present invention increases the hardness of rubber by crosslinking containing a metal complex instead of the conventional crosslinking using only carbon-carbon covalent bonds, thereby providing a solid golf ball with excellent anti-rolling properties, durability, and feel when hit. .

That is, the present invention provides a rubber obtained by crosslinking a rubber component containing polybutadiene as a main component with a pyridine metal rust body (hereinafter abbreviated as a polymerizable pyridine metal rust body) having a group containing a polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated bond. This invention relates to a two-piece solid golf ball having a solid core.

After releasing for a day and a night, the needle-shaped crystals precipitated are filtered out. Then, vacuum dry. The rubber component and the polymerizable pyridine metal body are crosslinked in the presence of a suitable free radical initiator such as dicumyl peroxide, n-butyl-4,4'-bis(t-butylperoxy)valerate, and the like. Crosslinking may be carried out by appropriately selecting a conventional method such as heating or radiation irradiation. A particularly preferred method is thermosetting by heating. The amount of free radical initiator used is 1 to 5 parts by weight, and the compounding ratio of the rubber component to the polymerizable pyridine metal rust is 50 to 15 parts by weight of the polymerizable pyridine metal rust to 10 parts by weight of the rubber component. Specifically, it is 60 to 12 parts by weight.

If the polymerizable pyridine metal rust body is less than 5 parts by weight, the hardness will be insufficient, and if it is more than 15 parts by weight, the hardness will be too high, making it impossible to obtain satisfactory impact resilience. The solid golf ball core used in the present invention includes the above-mentioned rubber component, polymerizable pyridine metal rust, free radical initiator, filler (e.g. zinc white, barium sulfate, calcium carbonate, silica, etc.)
etc., and put this into a predetermined mold (approximately 37 sides) and crosslink it. In the case of a two-piece ball, the crosslinked rubber core is coated with a cover in a conventional manner to form the ball.
