When disposing of such items, it is necessary to detect in advance that they are not contaminated with radioactive substances. Conventionally, the glove wearer himself or herself carried a survey meter and surveyed the surface of rubber gloves, etc., to measure the presence or absence of contamination.

However, such survey work is time-consuming, and it is difficult to survey the area between the fingers, making it difficult to detect contamination. In other words, the current situation is that detecting contamination and preventing the spread of contamination is left to the goodwill of glove wearers. However, as the amount of work increases,
Insufficient numbers of workers and lack of experience were problems, and in addition to inspections by people wearing gloves, it was desired that inspections be conducted by a third party for added safety. The present invention was made in view of the actual state of the prior art, and its purpose is to quickly determine whether or not waste is contaminated with radioactive materials, even if it is a large amount of waste. The object of the present invention is to provide a method that can efficiently and reliably detect contamination, and also allows a third party to inspect the presence or absence of contamination. To achieve this objective, the present invention is configured not to directly survey waste, but to cut it into pieces, mix it with air, and then sample the air to measure radioactivity.

以下、本発明について更に詳しく説明する。The present invention will be explained in more detail below.

The drawing is an explanatory view showing an example of an apparatus for carrying out the method of the present invention. The waste to be inspected is introduced into the feeding device 1. The supplied waste is shredded into small pieces by a shredding device 2 and sent to a cyclone 4 by a blower (not shown). Air and waste (solids) are separated here, and the waste fragments are placed in a receiving container 5. Air is HEPA
It is treated with a filter 6 and then exhausted. Substances (including radioactive substances) attached to the surface of small pieces of waste mix with the air as they are transported by the air flow from the blower, and are washed away by the air. It will be transferred into the air.

Of course, the same thing occurs in the solid/gas separation process in cyclone 4. Therefore, by sampling and measuring the air before it enters the filter 6 with the sampling device 3, it is possible to check whether there is contamination by radioactive substances. In addition, in order to further promote the mixing of the waste fragments with air and the cleanliness, a spiral guide member or other mixing/stripping means is installed in the pipe between the rope cutting device 2 and the cyclone 4. It may be attached. The present invention detects whether waste is contaminated with radioactive materials by exposing small pieces of waste to air, transferring attached substances into the air, and sampling the air to measure radioactivity. This method allows for a third party to check whether the product has adhered to areas that are difficult to measure using conventional methods, such as used gloves that have been turned inside out or have formed into clumps. It is possible to inspect a large amount of waste efficiently and easily in a short period of time without causing any problems, and it has an extremely significant effect from a safety standpoint.
