Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 [産業上の利用分野コ この発明は延伸吹込成形を用いて合成樹脂製の三層缶胴
を製造する方法に間するものである。
[従来の技術] ポリエチレンテレフタレート、塩化ビニールなどの熱可
塑性樹脂によるびんは、種々の容器に使用されている。
特にポリエチレンテレフタレートを延伸吹込成形して得
られたびんは、二軸配向によって比較的ガスバリヤ性が
よく、また剛性をも有することなどから、炭酸飲料を始
め果汁、酒、ビールなどの容器として広く使用されつつ
ある。
しかしながら、延伸吹込成形による容器は、その成形の
過程において、押出または射出成形されたパリソンの口
部、即ち一般にネック部またはリップ部と称されている
ところを挾持して成形を行っており、その挟持部分まで
をも肉薄に延伸することができない。このためパリソン
の口部は押出または射出成形されたままで、配向されて
おらず、強度も劣り、厚肉で固いことなどのことから、
金属蓋の嵌着は可能であっても、缶の場合のように巻き
締めを行うことは不可能とされている。したがって、パ
リソンの口部をいかに大径に形成しても、延伸吹込成形
した容器を、そのまま缶胴として使用jることはできな
い。
そこで本発明者は、延伸吹込成形された薄肉の容器を、
合成樹脂製缶胴として用いべく種々研究を重ねた結果、
容器を切断することによって、胴部と底部とが一体の缶
胴とすることができる方法を先に見出したのである。
この方法はポリエチレンテレフタレートなどの熱可塑性
樹脂による有底のプリフォームを成形する工程と、その
プリフォームから胴部の上端が外方へ張り出したびん状
の中空体を延伸吹込成形する工程と、その中空体を上記
張出部にて切断し、張出部の下辺による少なくとも横向
きの開口縁を有する胸部と、底部とが一体形成された缶
胴となす工程とからなるもので、充分に延伸され開口縁
は金属話の周縁と共に巻き締めて折損することはなかっ
た。
[発明が解決しようとする問題点] しかしながら、上記方法にあっては、プリフォーム全体
が単一樹脂からなるため、切除した張出部を再び材料樹
脂として使用できることから、材料ロスがきわめて少な
いが、缶胴の耐熱性の向上や更にガスバリヤ性を付与す
るために、それらの性能を有する樹脂またはガラス繊維
などの物性が異なった材料を、中間層として加えた全体
が三層のプリフォームを用いた場合には、切除された中
空体の張出部は、材料樹脂として再び使用することがで
きず、成形上のロスとして処理される。
したがって単層の缶胴に比べて、三層の缶胴はコスト高
となり、耐熱性やガスバリヤ性が単層のときよりも優れ
ていても、実際には使用し難いものとなる。また切断個
所から層間に空気が入って剥離が生ずるなどの新たな問
題をも有する。
[問題点を解決するための手段] そこで本発明者は三層缶胴の成形方法について更に検討
した結果、中空体の缶胴として用いられる部分のみを三
層に成形し、切除される張出部を単層に形成することに
よって上記問題点を解し得ることを見出したのである。
この新たな三層缶胴の成形方法は、ポリエチレンテレフ
タレートなどの熱可塑性樹脂による内外層と、その内外
層よりもガスバリヤ性、耐熱性などに優れ、かつ延伸可
能な材料からなる中間層を、缶胴の開口部に当る部分ま
で有する三層のプリフォームを成形し、そのプリフォー
ムから胴部上端が中間層の上端位置より外方へ張出した
びん状の中空体を延伸吹込成形し、その張出部の下辺に
て中空体を切断して、その下辺による巻込縁を開口部に
有する胸部と、該胴部と共に三層に形成された空部とか
らなる缶胴に成形してなることを特徴とするものである
上記中間層としては、内外層よりも結晶化速度の早いポ
リエチレンテレフタレート、ポリアミド系樹脂、ポリエ
チレンテレフタレートとポリアミド系樹脂のブレンド、
ポリアミド系樹脂または内外層を形成する樹脂とガラス
繊維との混線材料などが上げられる。
[作 用] 上記方法にあっては、プリフォーム成形時に、中間層の
位置をプリフォームを延伸吹込成形して形成した中空体
の張出部の下辺までとし、張出部より上部は内外層を形
成する樹脂のみをもって形成したことから、下辺にて切
断された張出部は、そのままで再び材料樹脂として使用
することができる。また中間層として使用された材料も
、そのほとんどが缶胴の中間層として無駄なく用いられ
ることから、材料のロスはきわめて僅かとなり、中空体
の一部を切除して成形する三層の缶胴でありながら、コ
スト高となるようなことがない。
更にこの発明を図示の実施例により詳細に説明する。
[実施例コ 第1図 一般に知られている三層成形法を用いて、有底で三層の
プリフォーム1を形成する。この場合、中間層2はネッ
ク部3の下部までとし、外111a及び内層1bと共に
ネック部3とその下部を同一樹脂により形成する。この
三層のプリフォーム1をネック型4によりネック部3を
挾持して射出金型Aから離型し、温調部へ移送する。図
は省略したがこの温調部にて成形時に生じた濃度むらを
均−にづると共に、ブリフt−ム温麿を延伸吹込成形に
適した温度に調整する。そして温調後にネック部3を挟
持したまま延伸吹込部ヘプリフA−ム1を移送する。
第2図 上記ブラフ4−ム1を予め準備された中空体成形用の吹
込金型Bに、ネック型4で挟持したネック部3を除いて
挿入する。この吹込金型Bのキャビティ上部には張出部
成形用の凹所があり、この凹所に中間層2の1端が位置
する。
次に伸長ロッド5をネック型4の上方からプリフォーム
に1内に挿入して軸方向に延伸すると共に、空気を吹込
んで半径方向に膨張させて、胴部6aど底部6b及び胴
部6aの上部に張出部7を一体に有する中空体6に成形
する。この成形により上記ブリフA−ム1の外層1aど
内層1b及び中間層2は、そのままの状態で中空体6の
内外層及び中間層となり、中空体6は底部6bから張出
部7の下辺7aまで三層構造となる。
この場合、胴部6aと張出部7の境を図示のように内方
へ若干弯曲して凹溝に形成して置くと、後記覆る金属蓋
の巻き線繊と胴部6aとをほぼ同一面に形成することが
できる。
上記のようにして成形された中空体6の胴部6aの肉厚
は、はとんど均一であり、また二軸配向によって薄肉な
がら、強度を有し、折曲応力が増す。特に張出部7は胴
部6aよりも延伸されているので、折曲げても破断する
ようなことがない。
第3図及び第4図 上記中空体6を吹込金型Bから離型したのち、上記張出
部7にて中空体6の切断を行う。この切断は、中空体6
をネック型4から外し、予め準備された切断機を使用し
て行う。また切断個所は、張出部7の単層に形成された
下辺7aとし、切断によって、胴部の開口端に横向きの
巻込縁8を有する三層の缶胴9となす。
このようにして成形された缶胴9は、巻込R8の先端か
ら底部6bまで二軸配向されたものとなり、かつまた中
間層2によってガスバリヤ性または耐熱性が一段と向上
したものとなる。
上記実施例では、底部6bを耐圧構造に成形しているが
、内圧を考慮する必要のない内容物の缶に使用する場合
は、底部6bの構造を通常の合成樹脂製びんなどの底部
と同様に成形される。
第5図は上記缶胴9の巻込縁8を、開封部材を有する通
常の金属蓋10と共に巻き締めて製造した缶11を示す
もので、金属蓋10による缶胴9の密封は、内容物を充
填したのちに、巻込縁上に載置した上記金属蓋10の周
縁10aと、巻込縁8とを通常のごとく第6図に示すよ
うに巻き締めて行われる。
[発明の効果] この発明は上述のように、缶胴となる部分のみを三層と
し、巻込縁を形成するために切除される中空体の張出部
より上部は単層となるように、予めプリフォームを三層
に成形した上で、三層缶胴を成形したことから、切除し
た張出部を単層の場合と同様に材料樹脂として再使用す
ることができ、また中間層は切除されずにそのほとんど
が有効に用いられるため、ali[lな材料をも中間層
として使用でき、それにより耐熱性やガスバリヤ性が更
に一段と向上した三層缶胴を経済的に製造することがで
きる。また切断個所は単層であるから、層間に空気が入
って剥離現象が生ずることがないなどの特長を有する。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. ポリエチレンテレフタレートなどの熱可塑性樹脂による
    内外層と、その内外層よりもガスバリヤ性、耐熱性など
    に優れ、かつ延伸可能な材料からなる中間層を、缶胴の
    開口部に当る部分まで有する三層のプリフォームを成形
    し、そのプリフォームから胴部上端が中間層の上端位置
    より外方へ張出したびん状の中空体を延伸吹込成形し、
    その張出部の下辺にて中空体を切断して、その下辺によ
    る巻込縁を開口部に有する胴部と、該胴部と共に三層に
    形成された底部とからなる缶胴に成形してなることを特
    徴とする合成樹脂三層缶胴の製造方法。
