Also, when paper is fed out from the lower paper feed section 2c, the paper 6 in the cassette 5c is fed out one by one by the paper feed roller 7c rotating in the direction shown by the arrow, and the separating and mating rollers 8c and 9c. The paper is guided by one guide plate 13c fixed to both side plates 10, and enters the main body 1 through a slit 39 formed in advance in the bottom plate 1a of the main body 1. The paper is guided in the direction of the arrow by a pair of guide plates 14c provided in advance on the main body side, and is conveyed to the registration rollers 15 through the relay rollers 38. It goes without saying that the slit 39 does not need to be formed when the bottom plate 1a is originally formed with a notch through which the paper can pass.

As mentioned above, the paper feed device 4 feeds the paper to the transfer position 19.
0 has four paper feed sections 2.2a, 2b, and 2C, a guide plate that guides the paper fed by each paper feed section, and a registration roller 15. As previously explained, when the paper feed section 2 t 2 a y 2 b *2c is provided, the number of guide plates for paper sent out from each increases, and the space occupied by these may increase. 6. Therefore, in the illustrated paper feeding device, the guide plate 13.13a is also used as a guide plate for paper fed from the lower paper feeding section 2c, paying attention to the following points. That is, one paper feed section 2a located on the side of the copying machine main body 1 and another intermediate paper feed section 2 inside the main body are located almost opposite each other, and the paper is sent out from these paper feed sections 2, 2a. The paper feed directions are also substantially opposite to each other, and the paper discharged from each paper feed section 2.degree. 2a advances toward a common relay roller 38. For this reason, these paper feed sections 2,
The guide plates 13, 13a for 2a gradually approach each other toward their tips. Therefore, by utilizing the space between the guide plates 13 and 13a that are close to each other.

The paper sent out from the lower paper feed section 2c can be guided without any hindrance, and the paper can be guided to the relay roller 38. The same applies when the relay roller 38 is omitted and the paper is guided to each paper feed section 2°. Corresponding to this idea, the guide plate 14C for the lower paper feed section 2c does not extend as far as the relay roller 38, and the paper fed from the lower paper feed section 2c and headed toward the relay roller 38 is It is configured to be guided from the middle by the back surface of a guide plate 13a provided for the paper feed section 2a and the back surface of the guide plate 13 for the intermediate paper feed section 2. Thus, one guide plate 13 serves both as a guide plate for paper from the intermediate paper feed section 2 and a guide plate for paper from the lower paper feed section 2c, and similarly, the other guide plate 13a serves as a guide plate for paper from the lower paper feed section 2c.
serves as a guide plate for paper from the paper feed section 2a and for paper from the lower paper feed section 2c. Therefore, the space occupied by the guide plate of the entire paper feeding device can be reduced, and the paper feeding section [40,
As a result, the entire copying machine can be made more compact and its cost can be reduced.

Note that by arranging the two paper feed sections 2 and 2a to face each other, the overall height of the copying machine can be kept lower than when they are arranged one above the other, and from this point of view, the height of the copying machine can also be reduced. can be made more compact. Furthermore, if the lower paper feed section 2c is inserted into the space between the copying machine main body 1 and the table 4 or into the table 4 as in the embodiment shown in FIG. 2c does not increase the height of the copying machine. However, in the present invention, the bottom plate 1a of the main body l shown in FIG. 1 is lowered further than the state shown in the figure,
It goes without saying that the present invention can also be applied to a paper feeding device in which an optional paper feeding section 2c can be accommodated in the space formed therein. In addition, the present invention can also be applied when a normal lower paper feed section 2d, which is not an option, is provided below the two opposing paper feed sections 2, 2a facing each other as shown in FIG. That is, from the cassette 5d of this paper feeding section 2d, the paper feeding roller 7d, separation/mate rollers 8d, 9d.
In addition to guiding the paper 6 sent out by the - guide plate 14d, there is also a guide plate 13 for the opposing paper feed section 2゜2a.
, 13a, it is possible to guide as shown by the arrow. Also, when there is a plurality of lower paper feed sections disposed below the two opposing paper feed sections 2, 2a, or when they are provided within the main body 1 of the copying machine as shown by the chain line in FIG. The present invention can also be applied without any problem.

Further, in the above embodiment, seven of the two opposing paper feed units provided in the main body 1 were set as the intermediate paper feed unit used for double-sided copying, but the paper feed unit in the main body 1 was the third paper feed unit. As shown in the figure, even when the paper feed section 2e is a normal paper feed section 2e having a cassette 5e in which the paper 6 to be copied is placed, a paper feed roller 7e, and separation/mate rollers 8e, 9e, the embodiment described above is used. The present invention can be applied in the same manner. The same applies when the optional paper feed section 2G is arranged to be housed under the main body l as shown in FIG.

Further, the configuration of each paper feed section is not limited to the illustrated form, but may be any suitable type of paper feed section known per se, for example, a handrail.According to the present invention, at least one guide plate can be connected to a plurality of paper feed sections. Because it can be used as a guide plate for paper feeders, the space occupied by the guide plate can be kept small even when multiple paper feeders are provided, allowing the paper feeder and therefore the image forming apparatus to be configured compactly, and also to reduce costs. It became possible to achieve this goal.
