Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable visibility in all directions by reducing the radii of curvature of rear view mirror gradually from the rear viewing area toward the lower viewing area thereby eliminating the rear and lower dead angles. CONSTITUTION:The rear viewing area 4 is formed into spherical face of such curvature as having the center on the line passing vertically through the intermediate point M of a line connecting between the points P1, P2 or the cross points between the interface 3 and the inner and outer sides 6 while the jointing area continuous with said area 4 is formed into spherical face of smaller radius of curvature than said area 4 having the center on same line and the lower viewing area 7 continuous with said area 8 is formed into spherical face of smaller radius of curvature than said area 8 having the center on same line where the interfaces 3, 5 between respective area are formed such that the curved faces having different curvature will continue smoothly.

クミラーを提供して上記欠点を解消せんとしたものにし
て、以下本発明の一実施例を図面に基づいて説明すると

ラ一本体であり、無機ガラス、アクリル樹脂等の適宜材
質より成り、該バックミラ一本体1は内辺2側の外方斜
め上方位置を中心点O4として所定の半径rlにて境界
3を設定せしめて上方内辺2側に偏在すると共に、バッ
クミラ一本体1の略半分の面積を占める後方視認区域4
を区割形成せしめ、更に同じ中心点0.を中心として所
定の半径r2にて境界5を設定せしめてバックミラ一本
体1の下方外辺6側に位置する小区域の下方視認区域7
を区割形成せしめ、該下方視認区域7と後方視認区域4
との間を両者の接合区域8と成してバックミラ一本体1
を三つの区域により構成せしめる様に成している次に各
区域の曲面の曲率について説明すると、境界3と内辺2
、外辺6との交点をp、、 p2とし、P、、P2を結
ぶ線の中間点Mを垂直に通過する線m上の点を中心とす
る曲率半径R1の球面にて後方視認区域4を彎曲形成せ
しめ、続いて該後方視認区域4に継続する接合区域8を
同じ線m上に中心点が位置し後方視認区域4より小なる
曲率半径R2の球面にて彎曲形成せしめ、更ムこ接合区
域8にm続する下方視認区域7も同様に同じ線m上に中
心点が位置し接合区域8より小なる曲率半径R1の球面
にて彎曲形成せしめる様に成し、各区域の境界3.5の
部分は異なる曲率半径の曲面が円滑に継続する様に形成
せしめている。

本体1に写し出される物体が急に歪むことなく自然に近
い状態で運転者に認識せしめることが出来、よってあら
ゆる方向の視認が一体のハックミラ一本体1により可能
となるため前輪による巻き込み事故等の防止に大いに貢
献出来ると共に、車輌走行時の安全性を大幅に向上せし
めることが出来る等その実用的効果甚だ大なるものであ
る。
