Abstract

PURPOSE:To use a recording stylus itself for impressing an electric field and irradiation of a light for heating upon a recording layer so as to simplify the constitution of a high-density recording device, by passing the laser light for heating through the recording stylus itself equipped with an electrode and heating the recording layer of a recording medium with the laser light. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 4 is constituted at the front end section of an optical fiber 3, to which a laser light is supplied from a light source, by a means which deposits a conductive material, etc. An information signal voltage is supplied to the electrode 4 from a recording signal source through a connecting line 5 and a cantilever 6 coupled with a carrying device is fixed to the optical fiber 3 near the front end section. When the laser light is passed through the optical fiber 3 and an information signal voltage is applied upon the electrode 4 through the connecting line 5 by using the recording stylus constituted in such a way, a phase change occurs in the recording layer 1 of a recording medium D and information signals are recorded.

(Prior art and problems) A recording layer made of a material (for example, Te Ox) that undergoes a phase change from an amorphous state to a crystalline state or from a crystalline state to an amorphous state by applying an electric field or heating. When recording an information signal using a recording medium equipped with
When recording information signals by both applying an electric field and irradiating light using the so-called electric field-enhanced photocrystallization phenomenon, conventionally, the means for applying the electric field and the means for irradiating the light were configured separately. Therefore, it was sold in mass quantities due to its complicated structure.

(Means for Solving the Problems) The present invention is directed to a method in which a phase change from an amorphous state to a crystalline state or a phase change from a crystalline state to an amorphous state occurs by applying an electric field, heating, etc. An information signal to be recorded is recorded on the recording layer of the recording medium by changes in the electric field caused by an electrode provided on a recording needle that is in sliding contact with the recording medium surface of the recording medium that is equipped with a recording layer made of a material. A recording needle for a high-density recording device configured as described above, in which heating light is passed through the inside of the recording needle provided with the above-mentioned electrode, and
In addition to allowing the heating light to pass through the recording needle where the electrode is provided, the recording needle is shaped so that the heating light that has passed through the recording needle gathers near the tip of the electrode of the recording needle. In addition to allowing heating light to pass through the recording needle in the specified high-density recording device and the recording needle provided with electrodes, it also allows the surface of the recording needle other than the surface provided with the electrodes to reflect light. This invention solves the conventional problems by providing a recording stylus for a high-density recording device having a surface structure.

By applying an information signal voltage to be recorded to the electrode 4 via the connection line 5, the recording layer 1 in the recording medium is changed from an amorphous state to a crystalline state by applying an electric field, heating, etc. or a phase change from a crystalline state to an amorphous state, such as To, O
In the recording layer 1 made of x, Ge, and Sn, an information signal to be recorded is recorded. The intensity of the laser beam described above is such that the material is such that a phase change from an amorphous state to a crystalline state or a phase change from a crystalline state to an amorphous state occurs due to the application of an electric field, heating, etc. It goes without saying that the recording layer 1 should be irradiated with a laser beam at such a light intensity that no phase change can be caused by it alone.

(Effects) As is clear from the detailed explanation above, the recording needle in the high-density recording device of the present invention passes heating laser light into the recording needle itself provided with electrodes. Since the recording layer of the recording medium is heated by light, the application of an electric field to the recording layer and the irradiation of heating light are performed by the recording needle itself, thus simplifying the configuration of the apparatus. In addition, the outer shape of the recording stylus is determined so that heating light is focused near the tip of the recording stylus's electrode, and a light reflective film is applied to the outer periphery of the recording stylus, excluding the area where the electrode is attached. With this structure, the efficiency of light utilization is improved, and therefore, effective heating of the recording layer can be achieved even by using a low-output laser light source.
