Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent inflow of nonmetallic inclusions into the molten metal for casting in a tundish in a continuous casting method in which the molten metal in a ladle is supplied through a long nozzle into the tundish by providing a filter function to the long nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A long nozzle 4 for connecting a ladle 1 a tundish 2 in the flow of the molten metal through the ladle 1 the tundish 2 a casting mold is made into a replaceable filter structural body. The nozzle 4 is made into a bottomed cylindrical body opened only at the top end. The base and bottom end part of said body are made of a porous refractory filter 5. The nonmetallic inclusions suspended in the molten metal are then filtered by the filter 5 in the stage of passing through the nozzle 4 and are prevented from flowing into the casting mold.

For example, in continuous casting of molten steel, as schematically shown in FIG. . Conventionally, the long nozzle 4 has been a cylinder made of refractory material with open upper and lower ends. In this case, ladle 1
Connect the upper opening of this long nozzle 4 to the outlet provided at the bottom of the long nozzle 1, usually through a sliding nozzle,
The lower part of the long nozzle 4 was inserted into the tundish 2, and molten steel was made to flow into the tundish 2 from the opening at the bottom of the long nozzle 4. Injection from the tundish 2 into the mold 3 was also carried out using a tundish nozzle 5 with upper and lower openings that communicated the tundish 2 and the mold 3. Therefore, non-metallic inclusions suspended in the molten steel in the ladle 1 also enter the tundish 2 together with the molten steel, and although some of them float up in the tundish 2, most of them get mixed into the mold 3 and are molded into the tundish 2. 2, some of them are captured by the solidified shell, which causes surface defects and internal defects in the continuously cast slab.

In order to solve this problem, various methods have been used to clean the molten steel in the ladle in the previous process, or by installing a special weir inside the tundish. Formulations that prevent metal inclusions from flowing into the mold have been proposed or adopted, but they require extra processing and have not been very effective. There was a strong desire to develop a formulation that would be advantageous for operation.

本発明の目的はこの要求を満たすことにあり。The purpose of the present invention is to meet this need.

The molten metal in the ladle is supplied to the tundish through a long nozzle, and the molten metal in the tundish is injected into the mold to produce continuous cast pieces. A continuous casting method characterized by having a function and an exchange function and filtering out non-metallic inclusions suspended in the molten metal when the molten metal passes through the long nozzle, and this continuous casting method. As a long nozzle for suitably carrying out 5, it has a cylindrical shape with only one end open.

That is, the present invention is a filter structure in which a long nozzle connecting the inside of the ladle and the tundish is replaceable in the flow of molten metal called the ladle and the tundish mold. However, while maintaining the concentration of nonmetallic inclusions in the molten metal entering the tundish below a certain level, the filtered and separated nonmetallic inclusions are removed from the system together with the porous refractory.

This is an enlarged view of a long nozzle connecting a ladle 1 and a tundish 2. In the present invention, a long nozzle with a filter function is used as the long nozzle. In the illustrated example, a cylindrical body with a bottom that is open only at the top end is used instead of a conventional one that is open at both ends.
An example is shown in which the bottom and lower end portions are constructed of a porous refractory filter 5. In other words, the long nozzle 4 shown in FIG. 1 has an opening at the top for connection to the outlet at the bottom of the ladle 1, but has a bottom at its lower end, and is inserted into the tundish 2. The part of the section near the bottom, and more specifically, at least the part immersed in the molten steel in the tundish 2, has a large number of pores that allow the molten steel to flow out but trap suspended non-metallic inclusions. The other part 6 (the part above the porous refractory 5) has the same refractory structure as the conventional one to prevent molten steel from flowing out.

The material constituting this filter is not particularly limited as long as it is refractory, but the porous refractory 6 shown in Figure 1 is silicon carbide coated with alumina. If the diameter of the through holes provided in the porous refractory 6 is as small as possible and the number of holes is increased, the area of the inner wall of the hole will increase, and the efficiency with which nonmetallic inclusions will be treated will be improved. However, if the hole diameter is too small, solidification and blockage will easily occur when molten steel passes through.

In reality, it is preferable that the minimum diameter is approximately 11II11φ. The shape of this filter may be cylindrical or angular, or it may be fitted into the tube of the long nozzle 4.

In carrying out the present invention, by replacing the entire long nozzle having the above-mentioned filter function, or just a portion of the filter from the long nozzle, each time the injection from the ladle 1 to the tundish 2 is completed, it is possible to avoid clogging of a portion of the filter. Deterioration in the performance of separating nonmetallic inclusions can be avoided. One of the features of the present invention is that this long nozzle exchange method maintains the separation efficiency of nonmetallic inclusions at a certain level and allows easy removal of nonmetallic inclusions from the system. This makes it possible to achieve the above-mentioned objectives in a very operationally rational and advantageous manner.
