Conventional Structure and Its Problems FIG. 1 shows a schematic structure of the main parts of an example of a conventional electrophotographic apparatus using the Carlson process. In FIG. 1, photoreceptor 10 rotates in the direction of arrow 12 during copying, and a uniform charge is applied to the surface by corona discharge from charger 14. The document surface 18 of the document 16 is irradiated with light by a fluorescent pair 20 as document irradiation means,
The reflected image is formed on the photoreceptor 1o through the entire imaging optical system such as an optical fiber 22 having a lens effect, and the original 16' is sent rightward in synchronization with the rotation of the photoreceptor 10, thereby changing the original surface. The original surface image is sequentially exposed to the photoreceptor 10'' from the right end to the left end of the photoreceptor 18. In the developing device 24, toner is attached according to the charge distribution of the electrostatic latent image generated on the photoreceptor 10 by exposure of the original surface image.
A developed image is formed on the photoreceptor 1o. This developed image is transferred onto the plain paper 11 by the transfer charger 26 to create a copy image. In conventional electrophotographic apparatuses, for example, a desired position on the document surface is specified, and the When attempting to control the image by changing the exposure amount of the photoreceptor, the original surface 18, which is held facing the photoreceptor 1o during copying, cannot be visually observed, as shown in FIG. 1. - To designate a position on the original surface, it is necessary to move the original to a different location than when copying, and to position the original with the original surface facing upward so that it can be viewed visually.

On the other hand, after specifying the position on the document surface in this way, when transporting the document in the desired position to the desired position when copying the entire document, in order to correctly adjust the exposure amount to the specified position on the document surface, it is necessary to , The position of the document surface relative to the position reference for specifying the position on the document surface mentioned above, and the position of the document surface relative to the position reference for placing all documents at the required positions, must be maintained in a constant relationship. , Specify the position of the original 6 Heh.

Transferring the device from the place where it was carried out requires time and care, which can be troublesome. Therefore, if you try to control the image by adjusting the exposure amount by specifying all the positions on the document surface with a conventional electrophotographic device as described above, you will waste time in transferring the document, and you will have to Positional inaccuracies can create stroking problems in which the desired copy cannot be easily obtained. Furthermore, in the conventional electrophotographic apparatus, the light source for exposing the photoreceptor 10 is only a single light source such as a fluorescent pair 20, and the exposure from the fluorescent pair 20 is the exposure of the reflected image from the document surface 18. However, there is no irradiation means for directly irradiating the photoreceptor 10. Therefore, although it is possible to reduce the amount of exposure to the photoreceptor 10, increasing the amount of exposure requires a significant increase in the amount of light emitted from the fluorescent pair 200, which is impractical and undesirable. Since the exposure always includes information corresponding to the document surface image, for example, it is essentially impossible to erase the document surface image at the specified position, even if the exposure amount is increased somewhat.
There were problems such as limitations in the range of exposure adjustment and image control.

, Y2) Corresponding to the rectangle A'C'B'D' in the box 14, the coordinate position on the position detection plate 36-4- is the coordinate position on the same document placement surface. become. Since the coordinate position on the document placement surface 28 indicates the distance from the point where the entire exposure to the photoreceptor 10 starts and the distance from the end line of the exposure, for example, as described above, using the light emitting diode 32, When trying to control the copying of the rectangular area ACBD, the rectangular area ACB specified by the procedure described above is the information itself about the lighting position and lighting time of the light emitting diode 32.
The copying operation in this embodiment will be explained by taking as an example the case where the document surface image corresponding to D is to be erased. The document surface 18 is sequentially placed on the photoreceptor 10 by the fluorescent lamp 20 without being separated.
A first exposure is performed to fully expose the reflected image of the photoreceptor 1.
An electrostatic latent image corresponding to the original surface image is formed on the second surface of the document. After that, the document surface 18 is illuminated by two light emitting diodes 32.
Directly to the photoreceptor 10 without passing through the second
Exposure is performed and the above 11th Il! The light and the second exposure are overlapped, and in the second exposure described in -h, the light emitting diode provided between the width x 1 x 2 corresponding to the rectangular area ACBD on the original surface is The controller 34 controls the light to be turned on only during Y1Y2 with an amount of light that can completely erase the electrostatic latent image corresponding to the document surface image.

In the above example, the portion corresponding to the CBD was erased in the rectangular area, but the second exposure can also be used as bias exposure for the photoreceptor, and the total amount of light emitted by the light emitting diode 32 is reduced. By selecting "-", the total exposure amount of the document portion corresponding to the rectangular area ACBD can be increased. This reduces the residual charge only in the portion of the electrostatic latent image formed by the first exposure that corresponds to the rectangular area ACBD, and the developing unit 24 VC
Therefore, the total density of the developed image can be reduced,
Therefore, for example, when copying a document having background density only within the rectangular area ACBD.

Furthermore, unlike the first exposure in which the reflected light from the document surface is exposed through the entire optical fiber 22, the second exposure is directly exposed to the photoreceptor 10'Q, so that the copied image can be controlled with a relatively small amount of light emitted. Therefore, it is very easy to make the maximum exposure of this second exposure greater than or equal to the amount of exposure necessary to eliminate the residual charge on the photoreceptor 1o. It also has advantages.

As described above, since the area of the photoreceptor 10'' directly exposed by the light-emitting diodes 32 is specified to an arbitrary size using the pointing pen 38, the array-shaped light-emitting diodes 32 are It is convenient if the photoreceptor 10 is dimensioned so that it can be divided into a plurality of pixel areas in the width direction, and the pixel areas are combined and made to correspond to the designated area.

Effects of the Invention As is clear from the above description, the electrophotographic apparatus of the present invention detects the surface of the document while visually observing the document by placing the document on the position detection means that has been brought to the non-copying position. A desired position for copying can be specified, and the original can be brought to the copying position on the original table while holding the original and the position detecting means integrally. This maintains a constant positional relationship between the reference when specifying the position and the reference for placing the document during copying, and the position of the specified document image portion relative to these two standards is different between when specifying the position and when copying. It is something that can be prevented from changing. In addition, 19 is provided with a photoreceptor irradiation means and a control means for controlling the operation of the photoreceptor irradiation means, so that the photoreceptor is irradiated by the photoreceptor irradiation means according to the specified position of the document surface. By adjusting the exposure amount, it is possible to control the appearance of the copied image according to the specified position. As a result, copying as described below can be carried out easily and reliably, for example. FIG. 4(a) shows the surface of the original to be copied, and the image is marked in the shaded area on the original surface 18 with four solid lines. If only the required image is desired to be copied, by using the electrophotographic apparatus of the present invention, only the necessary part is left as shown in FIG. 4(b).
It is possible to obtain an easy-to-see copy image in which other unnecessary portions of the image are erased and the necessary portion image is shifted to the desired center position. Of course, it goes without saying that the shape of the necessary surface 1 quadrant may be any shape.
