Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the titled device by driving the rotation of a toner image carrier and press-contacting and releasing operation of a cleaning brade against the toner image carrier by one driving source to be rotated forwardly/reversely. CONSTITUTION:The cleaning blade 26 is contacted against a photosensitive drum 1 by the weight of a heavy bob 28. Only at the rotation in the dotted line arrow direction (reverse rotation direction), a reversible motor 24 transmits power, and at the rotation in the solid line arrow direction (forward rotation direction), the motor idles and deos not transmit the power. At the completion of copying, the reversible motor 24 is inverted by a signal from a control part. Consequently, a cleaning brade supporting member is pushed up and the press-contact of the cleaning blade 26 against the photosensitive drum 21 is released. Thus, said constitution can simplify the device.

In electrostatic recording devices such as so-called electronic copying machines and electrostatic printers, a toner image is formed on a toner image carrier such as a photoconductive photoreceptor, and this is transferred and fixed onto a transfer material such as paper. Although a recorded matter is obtained, some toner remains on the toner image bearing member even if it smells after the transfer. The remaining toner needs to be completely removed in preparation for repeated use of the toner image carrier, and is usually removed by scraping it off by pressing a flexible member called a cleaning blade against the surface of the rotating toner image carrier. It is undesirable to keep the blade in pressure contact all the time because it may leave pressure marks of the cleaning blade on the surface of the toner image carrier or cause the cleaning blade to be bent when the toner image carrier is not operated for a long time. The cleaning blade is fully pressed only while the toner image bearing member is rotating, and the pressure contact is released when the toner image bearing member stops. Conventionally, the cleaning blade is pressed into contact with and released from the cleaning blade using a specially provided motor, electromagnetic clutch, solenoid, etc., but this method has disadvantages such as a complicated structure.

In addition, if the pressure of the cleaning blade is released when the toner image carrier is stopped, and then the pressure is completely applied again when the toner image carrier is restarted, it will accumulate on the tip of the cleaning blade, and when the pressure is released, it will adhere in a linear shape to the toner image carrier. The so-called "
Cleaning becomes incomplete due to "trampling on the toner image bearing member", resulting in failures such as damaging the surface of the toner image bearing member and staining the recorded material.

This situation will be explained with reference to FIG. In Figure 1,
1 is a toner image carrier which rotates in the direction of the arrow; 2 is a cleaning blade; 3 is a cleaning blade holding member; 4 is an electric image; the figure shows a state in which the cleaning blade is in pressure contact with the toner image carrier It shows. 5 is toner collected on the tip of the cleaning blade. The cleaning blade 2 is in a bent state as it is pressed against the retoner image carrier due to the weight K of the electric image 4.

To release the pressure contact of the cleaning blade, K rotates the rear part of the cleaning blade support member in the direction of arrow B by means not shown in the figure. Now, from this state, the rotation of the toner image carrier is stopped and cleaning is started. blade 2
When the pressure release operation is performed, the cleaning blade 2 moves to the position indicated by the dashed line in the figure.
Since the J-ning blade 2 separates from the surface of the toner image carrier 10 while recovering its deflection, its tip moves along a trajectory indicated by T1. The toner 5 collected at the tip of the cleaning blade is directly transferred to the toner image carrier l.

When the cleaning blade 2 is returned to the pressure contact position at the next restart, the cleaning blade 2 moves without bending, so the tip of the cleaning blade 2 moves with a trajectory T, and the toner image carrier 1 is adhered to the cleaning blade 2. This results in the toner 5 being stepped on underneath. If the toner image carrier is rotated as it is, the toner caught between the toner image carrier 1 and the cleaning blade 20 will rub and damage the surface of the toner image carrier, and some of it will remain attached to the surface of the toner image carrier. This will lead to the next step and cause the record file to become dirty.

In order to prevent this "stepping on", when starting the recording operation, first move the toner-attached area to the front of the contact point of the cleaning blade without slightly reversing the LF-image bearing member, and then move the cleaning blade to the front side. The toner image carrier is brought into pressure contact and started in the forward direction to enter the recording operation, but there is a device that controls the rotating direction of the toner image carrier, the starting and stopping mechanism of the cleaning blade's pressure contact, the timing, etc. It was inevitable that the company would fall into disrepair.

When copying is completed, the reciprocating motor train is reversed by a signal from the control section and rotates in the opposite direction. The reverse rotation of the motor U is controlled by the cam drive gear 3 via the one-sided clutch A.
3 and 32, the cam force is rotated in the direction of the dotted arrow, pushing up the valley of the cleaning blade support member and releasing the pressure contact of the cleaning blade 26 against the photosensitive drum 21. During this time, the gear portion and the photosensitive drum 21 also rotate a little in the opposite direction, and the toner pool that had adhered to the position where the tip of the cleaning blade was moved to the top of the diagram and to the bottom of the tile. When the cam load reaches half a turn and reaches 30' lid, the reversible motor stops. At this time, the cleaning blade is at position 26' and the pressure contact is completely released.

To start the next copy, VC1 first rotates the reversible motor Sae in the reverse direction. As the reversible motor Sae rotates in the reverse direction, the cam drive gears 33 and 32 rotate, and the cam moves from the position 30' to 3.
The cleaning blade 26 is rotated toward the position of ( ), and the cleaning blade 26 is lowered and pressed against the photosensitive drum 21.The drum driving gear 33 also rotates in the same direction (in the direction of the dotted arrow) as the drum driving gear 33 rotates. The ram also rotates slightly in the reverse direction 12, and the toner pool that was created at the tip of the cleaning blade during the previous cleaning on the photosensitive drum surface KL moves downward and away from the position where the cleaning blade 26 is pressed, so the cleaning blade - 1-=1 (There is no risk of the toner coming into contact with the cleaned photosensitive drum surface and being "stepped on".
