Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to enhance the safety of a vehicle during running thereof, by providing, in a solenoid flow-control valve, a warning means which actuates in accordance with the output of a comparator so that the cause of a failure may be immediately sensed when the condition of steering operation deteriorates due to a wire break. CONSTITUTION:A circuit 15 in which a detecting resistor 14 having a predetermined resistance value is connected to the low voltage side of solenoid terminals of a solenoid flow control valve 4, is grounded. The output of a comparator 16 is low when a voltage applied to the detecting resistor 14 is higher than a reference voltage, but becomes high when the voltage is lower than the reference value. The output of the comparator 16 is transmitted through a resistor 18 to a lamp 9, as a warning means, which is put on when the output of the comparator 16 is high. When a high break is occurred, the voltage across the detecting resistor 14 becomes zero, and therefore, the comparator 16 issues a high level output. With this arrangement the lamp 19 in a driver's compartment is put on to warn the failure.

In order to reduce the steering force of automobiles, etc., power steering uses hydraulic pressure to control wheel turning operations! Although the g consumption rate is increasing, the turning resistance of the wheels generally changes with the vehicle speed, and the resistance decreases in the high speed driving range (because it is in the I direction, the hydraulic assistance is 1-). On the other hand, in high-speed driving ranges, a steering system that is close to manual steering is sufficient in order to improve steering stability.

Therefore, speed-sensitive power steering systems have been proposed that improve high-speed stability by reducing the amount of oil supplied to the power steering hydraulic actuator depending on the vehicle speed or engine speed (for example, (Kokai No. 48-2206, JP-A-48-10729, etc.).

To explain this based on FIGS. 1 and 2, there is an electromagnetic flow control valve in the middle of the pipe 3 that leads the oil discharged from the hydraulic pump 1 to the bower swaying actuator 2, which throttles the flow path. 4 is interposed, and a differential pressure regulating valve 5 is installed to keep the oil pressure difference before and after the control valve 4 constant.

The electromagnetic flow control valve 4 is controlled to open and close proportionally by the output signal of the control circuit 7 to which signals from the sixth vehicle speed sensor are input, and while it is almost fully open in the low speed range, it is opened in the high speed range. The flow path is narrowed down accordingly.

This sensor signal is a pulse signal, and after being amplified and waveform-shaped by the signal amplifier 8 of the control circuit 7, it is sent to the frequency-voltage converter 9, where it is converted into a voltage signal according to the vehicle speed, and is further converted to a voltage signal according to the vehicle speed. The signal is processed to a predetermined voltage and current level and sent to a power amplifier (difference ω amplifier) 11. Then, the power amplifier 11 amplifies the drive voltage and current of the electromagnetic flow control valve 4 to perform proportional opening and closing as described above. Incidentally, in order to keep the 1lIII control state constant in the extremely low speed d3 and high speed ranges of the vehicle speed, the operational amplifier 10 processes the vehicle speed-current characteristic as shown in FIG. The flow control characteristics are as follows.

This ensures sufficient extraction to perform the specified power assist in the low speed range where the steering resistance of the wheels is low.
At high speeds, the amount of oil supplied to actuator 2 is reduced to maintain a state similar to that of annual steering and improve stability.

However, even with this control, if the electrical wiring to the electromagnetic flow control valve 4 is broken, for example, the control valve 4 will continue to restrict the flow path and the power steering will not work in the low speed range. Put away Natsu-C.

To this end, the present invention connects a detection resistor to the circuit ground side (low potential side) of the electromagnetic flow rate control valve, and includes a comparator that determines the minimum value of the voltage applied to this detection resistor, and a comparator that determines the minimum value of the voltage applied to the detection resistor. A warning means is provided which operates accordingly, and the warning means is activated via a comparator when the detected voltage decreases at the time of wire breakage.
