Selective mesh and constant mesh transmissions are used as gear type transmissions, but in either type, the required speed is achieved by sliding the gears and coupling fittings in the axial direction. As a result, the distance in the front and rear directions becomes longer, and the gears may be damaged and noise may be generated.

That is, in the selective mesh type, the required speed change is obtained by sliding a sliding gear provided on the shaft, but the shaft must be made longer to accommodate the sliding distance of the sliding gear.
Since only straight tooth gears can be used as the gears, there are disadvantages in that not only the gear noise is loud, but also the gears are difficult to mesh due to the difference in circumferential speed, and the gears may be damaged in some cases.

On the other hand, in the constant mesh type, the gear on the main shaft and the gear on the subshaft are always in mesh, and the coupling metal fitting (meshing clutch) is made to be slidable. Because of this, it is necessary to make the shaft longer, and since the coupling fitting is to be fitted into a rotating pawl, there are problems such as damage caused by impact or the like.

In contrast to conventional systems in which gears or coupling fittings were slid in the axial direction when changing speeds, this invention completely eliminates that sliding movement to enable speed changes.
A plurality of variable diameter transmission gears having grooves on the inner circumferential surface are supported at intervals in the axial direction so as to be freely rotatable, and a transmission gear that interlocks with each of the variable diameter transmission gears is fixed on the main shaft, and The gear is provided with a connector which can be freely engaged with and disengaged from each groove of the variable diameter transmission gear by movement in the radial direction and is biased inward in the radial direction, and a rod is inserted into the subshaft so as to be movable in the axial direction. , on the outer periphery of the rod, the shaft of the groove of the different diameter transmission gear is provided with protrusions that have the same number of protrusions as the different diameter transmission gear, and only one of which pushes the corresponding connector radially outward to engage the groove. The transmission is characterized in that the transmission is formed at intervals that substantially correspond to the directional intervals.

When this connector 27 engages with the groove 10a of the transmission gear 10 freely rotating on the shaft 6, the transmission gear 10 and the subshaft 6 are integrated, and the transmission gear 10 is connected to the gear of the main shaft 1. Since it is always in mesh with 5, one forward speed can be obtained here.

Also, by sliding the rod 16 in the axial direction and pressing the ball 34 with the protrusion 14, the connector 26 is moved into the groove 9 of the transmission gear 9.
When engaged in a, two forward speeds are obtained.

Similarly, when the rod 16 is slid in the axial direction and the connector 25 is engaged with the groove 8a of the transmission gear 8 through the protrusion 13, the third forward speed is achieved, and the connector 24 is engaged with the groove 7a of the transmission gear 7. When combined, four forward speeds can be obtained.

In the illustrated example, a back gear 36 is provided on the subshaft 6 so as to be freely rotatable, and an intermediate gear (not shown) is interposed between the gear 5 of the main shaft 1 and the back gear 36 to enable reverse gear shifting. Therefore, a groove 36a is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the back gear 36.

This invention is as described above, and by appropriately sliding one rod provided in the subshaft so as to be freely movable in the axial direction, the connector, which can move forward and backward in the radial direction, idles on the subshaft. Since the variable speed gear is integrated to perform the required speed change, there is no need to slide the gear on the shaft or slide the coupling valve as in the past. The front and rear lengths can be shortened.

In addition, if the required speed is achieved by sliding gears or connecting sleeves, the meshing impact will cause damage to the gears and meshing noise, but in the present invention, the gears on the main shaft and the gears on the subshaft Since the speed change gear that can freely rotate is always in mesh and the required speed change is performed by the expansion and contraction movement of the connector, there is no damage to the gears or meshing noise, and its durability can be maintained, and it is always in mesh. Therefore, a helical gear can be used, so there is less gear noise.
The operation can be done by simply sliding one rod in the longitudinal direction (axial direction), so the operation can be performed remotely at an appropriate location, increasing design freedom and also making gear changes easier. In particular, in the present invention, the number of protrusions is the same as the number of different diameter transmission gears, and the protrusions are formed on the outer circumference of the rod at intervals that substantially correspond to the axial intervals of the different diameter transmission gears. The sliding stroke is kept to the minimum necessary, allowing for quick and easy gear shifting operations.
