Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect an intermittent failure which occurs in a short period or a plurality of failures which occur simultaneously by tempeoralily holding an output of a comparison means which identifies those failures according to the voltage level of a signal line, in a failure detector. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 1 is an arithmetic circuit which computes the quantities of control with respect to fuel injection, ignition timing, idle running speed and so on, and sensors and other apparatuses are connected to the I/O terminal thereof via a harness 21-2n, respectively. A comparator 4 which has an output delaying function is connnected to the harness 2 via a harness 3 which detects a signal line voltage. If any of the sensors may fail or the harness 2 be disconnected, the outputs level of the comparator 4 drops to a lower level after a certain period while a flip flop RS-FF5 thereby holds ''0'' indicating a specified state and output it to the output terminal to generate an indication signal for lighting a liminous diode of an indicator 11.
