Stainless steel material has a significantly different electrical resistance from steel material, and there is a large time difference in reaching the melting point during electrical heating, making it difficult to apply electrical heating pressure welding, which requires simultaneous melting of the butt end faces.

That is, as shown in FIG. 1, the butt welding is performed by clamping the pressure welding base materials 1 and 2 with copper chucks 3 and 4, and abutting their end surfaces against each other, and then abutting the base materials 1 and 2 by energization heating. Pressure welding is achieved by melting the ends and applying pressure in the abutting direction, but as mentioned above, when the press welding base materials are steel and stainless steel, 1. Since the difference in electrical resistance is small, even if the high-resistance stainless steel material reaches its melting point, the low-resistance steel material will not reach its melting point, and if you wait for the steel material to melt, the stainless steel material will over-melt and a healthy butt will occur. Pressure welding becomes impossible.

That is, in order to correct the melting delay of the steel materials, the present invention performs preliminary heating (thermal conduction heating) by applying a gas flame to the steel material prior to butt current heating pressure welding, and immediately after that, the butt current heating pressure welding of the two base materials is performed. By promoting pressure welding, healthy joining is possible.

To explain this in accordance with the illustrated example, as shown in Fig. 2, the stainless steel material SuS is first clamped with a normal copper chuck Cut (current-carrying electrode), and the copper material Cu is clamped with a stainless steel chuck. The materials are clamped with SuS' (current-carrying electrodes), and the end surfaces of the art materials SuS and Cu are abutted against each other to bring them into a state where current-carrying heat and pressure welding is possible.

Next, the butt ends of the copper material Cu are preheated with gas flame B using oxygen and acetylene gas, and heated to a temperature that corrects the melting delay of the copper material Cu during the subsequent butt butt energization heat pressure welding.

Immediately after the above preheating, both the base materials SuS and Cu are heated with electricity through the life chuck Cu/ and the stainless steel chuck SuS' to promote melting of the abutting ends, and then pressure is applied in the abutting direction to perform pressure welding.

This pressure welding method is an extremely simple pressure welding method that combines preheating with a gas flame and current heating pressure welding. By simply adding preheating with a gas flame, it is possible to butt and energize stainless steel material SuS and copper material Cu, which was previously considered difficult. This made it possible to put heat pressure welding to practical use.

When carrying out the pressure welding method of the above-mentioned two parts, it is preferable that the preliminary heating of the copper material Cu by the gas flame B be concentrated in a local part (butt end part).

However, even if only the butt ends of the copper material Cu are heated with gas, the copper material Cu has extremely good thermal conductivity, so it may spread to a length that does not require preheating, or the heat may be absorbed by the copper chuck and cause heating. It takes a long time, and if the steel material is exposed to the gas flame for too long in order to heat the predetermined preheated portion, which is the butt end of the copper material Cu, there is a risk of thermal deterioration of the steel material.

As shown in the above embodiments, the present invention, when preheating the copper material Cu with a gas flame, clamps the copper material Cu with a metal chuck for current-carrying electrodes having a low thermal conductivity such as a stainless steel chuck SuS'. By performing the above preheating, the heat conducted by the gas flame is not absorbed by the clamp part of the stainless steel chuck SuS', and is blocked as much as possible, allowing the gas flame heating to be conducted from the tip of the chuck. This can be done by concentrating on the protruding butt ends.

As a result, the abutting ends of the copper material Cu can be preheated in a short time, the above-mentioned adverse effects caused by gas flame heating can be effectively suppressed, and uneven heating does not occur.
