Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain hard external parts for a watch with superior impact resistance by working TiC contg. a specified percentage each of Ni, Cr, Mo and Fe.
CONSTITUTION: This invention relates external parts for a watch, especially the watchcase. A composition consisting of, by wt., 5.0W30% Ni, 4.0W15% Cr, 2W 10% Mo, <5% Fe and the balance TiC with inevitable impurities is sintered at about 1,500W1,700°C after HIP treatment, and this sintered body is subjected to electric spark machining, polishing and mirror finishing. The resulting watchcase has about 140W160kg/mm2 deflective strength and about Hv 1,000W1,500 hardness, and the surface shows brilliant luster.
