Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the captioned pipe having a synthetic resin lining firmly fixed to the internal surface thereof by a method wherein a thermally expansive synthetic resin pipe having on its outer periphery an adhesive layer and a plurality of grooves extending in the axial direction is inserted into a metallic pipe and the two pipes are heated. CONSTITUTION:The synthetic resin material such as polyethylene is extruded by a pipe shaping mold and the extruded tubular product is foamed by reducing its diameter by use of a foaming mold to thereby produce the thermally expensive synthetic resin pipe 1 having on its outer periphery the grooves 3 extending in the axial direction. Next, an adhesive (preferably of hot melting type) is coated on the outer periphery of the pipe 1 to provide the adhesive layer 2, the pipe 1 is inserted into the metallic pipe and the metallic pipe is heated externally so that the adhesive layer 2 on the pipe 1 is fused to adhere to the internal peripheral surface of the metallic pipe. At the same time, the grooves 3 are restored to their original state so as to remove air therefrom for the strengthening of the adhesion of the pipe 1 to the metallic pipe. As regards the grooves 3, it is desirable that they are arranged uniformly in the circumferential direction of the pipe 1 and each of them have a sectional configuration similar to a depressed equilateral triangle.
