Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a frame part highly efficiently, safely and economically by setting the mud gun of a mold in the home position at the closing of the iron notch of a blast furnace to locate the same in front of the iron notch, flowing fluid amorphous refractory material into the space formed by the wall surfaces and the mold and drying the same.
CONSTITUTION: A mold 14 of a prescribed shape is mounted removably to the leading end part of a mud gun 13. When the mud gun 13 is set in the home position while the iron notch 4 of a blast furnace is held closed, the mold 14 is located to face the iron notch 4, thereby forming a space between a brick surface 5 and the mold 4. Fluid amorphous refractory material 19 consisting essentially of, for example, SiC, Al2O3 or the like is flowed into this space, and after the material 19 has dried and set, the mud gun 13 is retreated and the mold 14 is removed.
