Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a dimensional accuracy of product and to restrain a generation of rolling flaw, by making vertical rolls of a rolling mill movable in the direction of its inlet and outlet sides, and making the starting points of biting the web and flange parts of shaped steel by horizontal and vertical rolls coincide. CONSTITUTION:An axis 4, supporting a vertical roll 2 freely rotatably, has an upper and a lower flanges 4a. The roll 2 and a chock 3, having liners 6 respectively, are fixed in the direction of the inlet (front) and outlet sides of a rolling mill and are slidable in the direction perpendicular to said direction. Front and rear side surfaces of the flange 4a are formed into the symmetrical wedges 4b to each other sliding plates 7 are put between said wedges 4b and inner surfaces of projected edges 3a formed at the upper and lower sides of the chock 3, to be in contact with the wedges 4b at their wedge parts 7a, and are made to slide by cylinderc 9 while being held by plates 8. Now, the roll 2 is moved forward by +S from the neutral position by making the front and rear side plates 7 slide horizontally in opposite directions respectively by front and rear side cylinders 9 and making the flanges 4a move forward by +S. When -S movement is required, each cylinder 9 is made to act in the direction reversely to said one.
