Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve heat resisting characteristics and high frequency region characteristics by adding aqueous solution of a compound including Si into aqueous solution of ferrous salt and the like, transforming the Si component into gel- formed, fine, insoluble material, adding alkali agent, and thereafter passing gas including oxygen. CONSTITUTION:The aqueous solution of the compound including Si such as silica gel and water glass is put into the concentrated aqueous solution of ferrous salt or mixture of ferrous salt and ferric salt of e.g. pH 5 or less. The atomic weight ratio of Si with respect to Fe lies within the range of 0.005/100-5/100. A fine, white insoluble sediment material is formed. Then it is diluted with pure water. Thereafter it is neutralized by the aqueous solution of the alkali agent such as alkali hydroxide and alkali carbonate. Then, needle shaped particles of iron oxihydroxide is obtained by passing oxidized gas and the like such as air. Thereafter the particles are washed, filtered, dried or temporarily burned, and contacted with reducing gas under heating. Thus the heat resisting characteristics and the recording characteristics in the high frequency region can be improved to the large extent.
