Abstract

PURPOSE: To carefully condition a steel material of the ascending speed of molten metallic level in excess of a prescribed level and obtain a product having good surface and subsurface quality by measuring the fluctuating speed of the molten metal in a mold, and corresponding the same to that of a steel material N0 in continuous casting.
CONSTITUTION: The rates of fluctuations and the time of fluctuations are measured from the signal of an in- mold molten metallic level detector 1, and the fluctuating speed of the molten metallic level is operated by an arithmetic device 2. The value of the fluctuating speed of the molten metallic level is taken into a computer 3, and the signal of the ingot length measuring device 5 of pinch rolls 4 is coupled and stored in such a manner that the signals of the fluctuating speed of the molten metallic level and the length of the ingot correspond. Thence, a signal is outputted to the computer 3 from an ingot cutting length measuring device 7 by each cut length ingot N0 of the respective ingots by a cutter 6. The corresponding data of the fluctuating speed of the molten metallic level and the lengths of the ingots having been stored in the computer 3 and the actual records of these cutting length are compared, whereby the corresponding of the fluctuating speed of the molten metallic level and the ingot N0 is completed. Next, the corresponding data are outputted to a typewriter 8 or are outputted to the CRT device 10 or typewriter 11 connected to other computer 9, so that the data are transmitted to inspection and conditioning processes.
