Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a modified polypropylene freed from foaming during molding and having good adhesion to polar substances, by heat-treating a specified modified polypropylene and blending the heat-treated polypropylene with an atactic propylene/ethylene block copolymer.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture consisting of polypropylene, an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its derivative and an organic peroxide is melt-blended. The resulting modified polypropylene is heat-treated at a temperature≥60°C, pref., ≥100°C and 90W50pts.wt. this modified polypropylene is blended with 10W50pts.wt. atactic propylene/ethylene block copolymer. As the unsaturated carboxylic acid which can be used, maleic anhydride is most suitable. The heating time for heat- treatment is generally about 10minW10hr, and preferably this heat-treatment is carried out so that the modified polypropylene is devolatilized by heating to an unreacted monomer content ≤0.05mol%.
