Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent any separation of the fluorescent film of a U-lamp, increase the brightness of the lamp, and improve the appearance of the lamp by making a bulb formed into U-form to be coated with the fluorescent film, and fusing two stems simultaneously to the ends of the bulb so as to seal the bulb. CONSTITUTION:A U-bulb 21 has two side parts 21a and a curving part 21b. After the bulb 21 is placed with the ends upright, the bulb 21 is filled with a suspension consisting of a phosphor, a binder and a solvent, and the bulb 21 is placed upside down so as to make the inner wall of the bulb 21 to be coated with the suspension. Following that, the bulb 21 is sent to a drying process and a sintering process, thereby making a fluorescent film only to adhere to the inner surface of the bulb 21. Next, stems 8 and 9 are simultaneously fused to the ends of the bulb 21 so as to seal the bulb 21. The above sealing is performed by placing burners 30 so that they face to the bulb 21, and by simultaneously heating the sealing parts at the ends of the bulb 21 by means of the flame of the burners 30 while rotating the bulb 21.
