Abstract
PURPOSE:To make a molten metal flow softly into a casting mold at a temperature being as uniform as possible, by inclining an opposed wall to a molten metal inflow port side wall to a casting mold 1, by a specific angle from the bottom of a furnace, in a holding furnace for horizontal and continuous casting of cast iron connected the casting mold to the holding furnace. CONSTITUTION:An inclined angle theta against the bottom of a furnace of a downward flow preventive bed 4 constituting a wall opposed to a molten metal inflow port side wall to a casting mold 1 is set to 30-70 deg.. According to this method, when a molten metal is replenished to a holding furnace in order to perform continuous casting, descending force of the molten metal is reduced once in a sprue 5, subsequently, the descending force is completely suppressed by a downward flow preventive part 10 of the bed 4, and the molten metal flows into the casting mold 1 in the form of a laminar flow along the inclination of the bed 4. Accordingly, a low temperature part as before is not formed, and a variation of temperature becomes small. Therefore, a corner crack of continuous castings and a disturbance of oscillation are decreased remarkably.
