Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently separate and recover Se, Te, etc. from an acidic aqueous soln. by causing reduction with bismuth amalgam or the like in the presence of Cl ions.
CONSTITUTION: Bismuth amalgam, copper amalgam or metallic copper is added to an acidic soln. cong. Se and/or Te ions at about 50W100°C in the presence of Cl ions in a nonoxidizing atmosphere, and by agitating the soln., the Se and Te ions are reduced to the metals with superior settleability. Se and Te are then recovered by solid-lip. separation.
