Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively recover valuable metals such as In by removing zinc from a substance contg. valuable metals such as In by volatilization, lowering the temp., and removing the separated magnetic solid phase from the nonmagnetic liq. phase.
CONSTITUTION: A substance contg. valuable metals such as In as well as iron, lead, arsenic and zinc, e.g., iron dross discharged by the dry refining of zinc is heated to ≥800, especially 1,000W1,200°C to selectively volatilize zinc alone. By cooling to about 400°C the iron dross residue as the volatilization residue is separated into speiss (solid phase) contg. iron and arsenic and nonmagnetic liq. phase of lead contg. In, silver, tin, etc. The magnetic speiss is then separated and removed by magnetic force or the like at a temp. where the nonmagnetic lead, etc. hold the liq. state. On the other hand, by treating the nonmangetic liq. phase of lead with soda, In and tin are selectively shifted in soda scum and recovered by a known method.
