Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare S-adenosyl-L-methionine, by using treaed microbial cells of microorganisms having the ability to synthesize the S-adenosyl-L-methionine from ATP (adenosine triphosphate) and methionine.
CONSTITUTION: Examples of microorganisms capable of synthesizing S-adenosyl- L-methionine from ATP (adenosine triphosphate) and methionine include collected and dried microbial cells obtained by cultivating latic acid bacteria of the genuses Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, Pediococcus and Leuconostoc, and basidiomycetes. The microbial cells are treated in a solution containing preferably 10W20mM ATP, preferably 5W20mM methionine and a magnesium salt, potassium salt and glutathione, and the S-adenosyl-L-methionine is then separated from the reaction solution.
