Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the production of an overcurrent due to the shortcircuit of a power source by maintaining the controlling delay angle of a normal/reverse thyristor converter to be conducted after the switching of the thyristor converter higher than the predetermined value during the predetermined period of time immediately before starting the firing of the converter. CONSTITUTION:Since currents flows through thyristor converters 1, 2 to be interrupted when a power source is shortcircuitted, a power shortcircuit detector 21 for detecting the shortcircuit of the power source is provided. This detection is carried out by judging whether or not a current flows during the period of gate OFF on the basis of the signals from a flip-flop 17 and current detectors 19, 20. When the shortcircuit of the power source is detected, the signal is transmitted through a logic circuit 22 to switching circuits 6, 7, the output signal from the switching circuit is switched to a signal from a bias setting circuit 8 for gate shift. In this manner, the current of the shortcircuit closing circuit can be rapidly reduced and vanished. Thus, it can prevent the overvoltage.
