Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain always constant density of a copying machine by detecting image density from a member to be detected after fixing and controlling the respective parts of the copying machine by the signal obtained by this in such a way that the correct image density is obtained. CONSTITUTION:A member 10 to be detected traveling in parallel to paper 9 is provided between a transfer process and a fixing process, and this member 10 is designed to have roughly the same performance as that of the paper 9. The toner image formed on the non-image part of a photoreceptor 6 is transferred on the member 10, and this is fixed together with the paper 9 on the member 10. The image density after fixing is detected as an electric signal from the member 10 by an image density detector 13. The signal obtained by this is inputted to a control circuit of a copying machine body 1, by which the respective parts of the body 1, for example, exposure, the bias potential of a developing device 8, the electrostatic charge quantity of a transfer device 14, and the fixing temp. of a fixing device 12 are so controlled that the correct density is obtained.
